I've been using Crunchyroll for the past 3 (almost four!) years now and the options for subtitles have opened up a lot! My only issue is, Japanese subtitles are unavailable. It's a bummer because while I love watching anime with no subs, certain words will have homonyms and might be lost in context. Having the option for Japanese subs would shoot mine and other people's comprehension up a LOT.

Netflix actually does this with a bunch of shows like Terrace House and Samurai Gourmet.

Anyone else feel similar?

this has already been requested, but it's unlikely that CR will give such an option, given very few users would benefit from Japanese subs.

I'd like Japanese Subs. It would help a lot with learning Japanese.

Per Answerman, (Justin Sevakis) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2016-11-11/.108319

As any otaku who has seriously studied Japanese can tell you, learning the language from anime is a terrible idea

To be fair, the two titles Yezak mentioned are live action dramas, not anime, although I have no idea if the language used in those is more natural and "everyday" than anime.

In the best case scenario, I expect it would be akin to someone learning English from US TV shows.
