Atari SA formerly Infogrames, who have previously only made craptastic remakes and re releases of their combined IP are making a console...no one in their right mind is going to touch it with a ten foot pole.

You can install a PS2 emulator on PC and then play PS 2 games.

While I agree that PC is the best way to game, Atari re-entering the console market is interesting, and greater competition in the market should benefit gamers of all stripes.

Sony has been so dominant this console generation that they've been starting to get silly, anti-consumer ideas in their head.

Umm because of a a lot of factors.

Steam, Would someone in the US like to pay for games in £ in stead of US$? That is what it's like to some. Parts of the world are forced to pay for games in USD instead of their local currency.
One of the COD games is $60USD on Steam with currency conversion comes to ~$78 (if you use paypal. or $80 with most CC's). Same game on PS4 and Xbox one $49 at a local store (non sale price) or $65 on PSN which includes DLC. So steam is not cheaper. If you include that PSN And the local store includes 10% sales tax when Steam doesn't it's a bit of a difference.

Price for the PC. If someone broke in and stole nothing but my desktop tower it would be around $2000 cost to replace it for the same sort of ability current gen wise. Xbox one X is listed as being $659 and the PS4 pro is $559. So I could get both xbox one X and PS4 pro and have money left over.

I managed to buy a brand new from a store Xbox one s 500GB model 2 games and a 3 month subscription ($10 a month) to a streaming service here for $273 delivered. To buy the games for PC $99.95 off the windows store because it's exclusive to there. $50 for the other game off steam + $30 streaming subscription. Total price for the console $83. What PC can I buy for that sort of money? A Raspberry pi isn't going to be much of a gaming PC.

Everything else is game dependent even PC games made this year aren't always full 1080p or 100% stutter free also everyone has exclusives lol.

Back on topic

I am actually interested to see what Atari make. I doubt I would buy it.

The price... :/

But yeah it'll likely be a Atari classic ala the NES Mini Nintendo did last year. Doubt they'll get buzz Nintendo did though. The parasites that inhabit the dried out husk that is Atari will without a doubt fuck this up.

Nah, I'm good. My Atari2600 suits my needs perfectly. Anything more would be overkill.
