I cancelled my premium account due to lack of HTML5 support. It's 2017 and crunchyroll was the last thing I used that still required flash.

All current versions of the common browsers do not enable Flash by default and you have to give permission individually for each any every website to use the plug-in. Given that we're obviously not distributing any malware, you are perfectly fine just giving the Flash usage permission to Crunchyroll, and leaving the plug-in off on those parts of the web that will give you malware.

You need to give your browser permission to use the Flash player on the Crunchyroll website. All browser in their current versions block the Flash plug-in by default and need a manual white listing for each individual website.

Well if crunchyroll is still viable as a company in 2020 they will have to give htlm5 to everyone as flash will be discontinued. Reality is that the "beta" thing is just a rip off for ppl that dont want the other premium+ benefits (most of them ppl that dont live in us) to be encourage to pay more. Beta will never end....so yeah, you'll have to w8 till 2020.

I've paid for a Premium membership for the last four years. I finally asked CR about this as I'm no longer able to use Flash anymore for security reasons. It sounds like I got the same response as many others: pay more for content you don't want for beta access to player for viewing content you're already paying for. (There is an unofficial Chrome plugin that's not actively supported and doesn't work reliably.)

Given that "offer" I promptly canceled my auto-renewal. I'll resubscribe once I've heard CR has completed their glacial trek into the modern era (or thought better of monetizing their beta player), presuming of course that I haven't already subscribed to another streaming service by that point.

Release HTML5 player ASAP. I also can't use Flash for security reasons that are outside my control. There's no acceptable reason to be this far behind, and most of the industry made the move years ago.

Also, beta is not something people should pay for. By definition it's a method of identifying bugs and usage patterns, so you're only hurting yourself by keeping it locked up. If a subset of power-users are willing to accept sub-par experience, that's a massive benefit to the stability of the software that you're selling when it actually gets released.

If any of you guys are still looking for an html5 player: https://github.com/YePpHa/crunchyroll-html5 . This is an opensource HTML5 Player that is actively being worked on and supports both chrome and firefox. It can be installed as an extension or with tampermonkey/ other userscript extensions.
