VRV Rant: No option to choose original Japanese dubs

So I don't know if anyone else was like me and decided to move on over to VRV. Especially with the account linking to Crunchyroll now it seemed like a great deal and I like and want to support Crunchyroll so I thought, "What the heck?" There are some great series that I've been looking forward to watching that I just haven't gotten around to like Code Geass and Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu from the Funimation channel. Only problem is that they're ALL English dubbed which I just can't stand anymore. I don't speak Japanese but I speak Korean which has a lot of grammatical similarities and some words which are exactly the same pronunciation so it feels much more natural to watch the original Japanese. So no matter how good the English voice actors are it just feels off for me. The thing that drives me nuts is that on the actual Funimation website they have the original Japanese dubs. I know that I'm not the only one that can't stand English dubs in fact I'd be willing to make a conjecture that most people prefer the original Japanese. Especially the people that they're advertising to all the time on Crunchyroll! I just feel severely let down by a company that I usually love to support even though I could go and watch anime on kissanime or something. Hopefully they'll be able to link Funimation accounts soon too because that would be an easy solution to this problem without them having to upload all the Japanese dubs onto VRV.

P.S. I realize that there are a lot of people who like to watch English dubs and I'm not bashing them I just wish they would have made it accessible to both preference types. I also realize that since the service is new it could be that they'll upload them later but I just wish they wouldn't so aggressively advertise a product that will disappoint those of us that were expecting to be able to watch in Japanese like we always do.

It depends on the show and whether or not they were affected by the Funi/CR partnership. For example, "Toradora" is available in both languages (it not being a Funi license). VRV does allow you to link your Funi and CR accounts (that's what I do). Using VRV, there are shows that are dub-only for the Funi page and sub-only for CR page. You just have to switch channels.

"Most" (was the word Funimation used on a blog post) of their subs will be coming to CR at some point, and thus (presumably) to VRV under the CR channel the same way. At this point, it seems to only be a matter of time, but just how long is anyone's guess...

Scroll to the bottom of the /lineup page, and see a bunch that have come over this season. Here are a couple on that list that did for sure (I didn't check them all). In principle, choose CR for subs and Funi for dubs.

I did see something about that but I didn't realize they meant that the same series was uploaded on different channels. Thanks! I'm still 0 for 3 on animes I was hoping to watch though including some really popular ones so hopefully things improve as the service goes on. I want to keep supporting Crunchyroll so I hope VRV does work out for them.

I was also disappointed when I discovered that apparently Funimation had provided only dubs for VRV. As asharka mentioned, it seems that eventually most of those titles will show up on the Crunchyroll channel as subs, but that's little solace for shows you want to watch now that haven't moved over to Crunchy yet.

I've closed this thread since there's already a thread in General Discussion for sharing experiences with VRV. If you want to share your thoughts there, here's the link: /forumtopic-979031/anyone-jumping-over-to-vrv
