uncletim ~ the top 5 longest snipers shots 3 out of the 5 are made by Canadians

that makes sense. I've heard that bare knuckle combat against Kodiak bears is just a part of life in Canada, as is eating raw caribou. Get with the times, you primates! just look to your neighbors to the south for a shining example of manifest progress and reason

Wow, thats inane. Is there any articles out there that talk about what kind of equipment he was using? Mostly interested in the optics. I once hit a target at 450 meters and thought I was a god. haha

From what I can drudge up: McMillan TAC-50 and likely a Leopold Mark 4 16x or a newer Schmidt Bender 5-25x56 PM II/LP. That's the standard for Canadian forces and what was used in previous Canadian sniper records. Ranwolf might know more about the specifics.

The scope probably costs more than the rifle.

Mate, Ranwolf took the shot.

Fake news ~ no Canadian is capable of hitting a target at two miles. Three point two kilometers, maybe, but not two miles.

fun fact: before this, a Canadian also had the longest sniper kill against Al-Qaeda, which made me think this was an old-repost until i read the article

Canadians are damn good shots, and plus it doesnt hurt shooting in heated, flat terrain with always near perfect visibility

I'm not saying its impossible, especially since 50 BMG can travel around 7K but realistically vision is gonna not pick up people as they'd be specs easy in any scope at that range.

Not to mention even with laser range finder, and all other conditions it would be near impossible shot.

Likewise let's be honest. 2 miles away you are telling me that they spotted something happening that far away? Even if you're doing over watch that is a pretty good distance to be looking for something the size of a person.

But I'll say it's a majority of luck that all conditions played for this to happen. Skill was there, but luck was sure as hell there too

Still over 10 seconds of travel time. Think about how much you move in ten seconds.

But again it's both luck and skill that made this work out.
