John Oliver should be sued for bad comedy.

I miss Jon Stewart he at least knew how to not seem like a paid hack.

Paid by who? Big anti-Payday loans? Oliver typically draws attention to stories no one was even heard about.

haha, that guy is full of shit. The whole video is deflecting onto Obama instead of actually disputing what Oliver said as false. Literally all he does, completely stupid.

Not his fault you have no sense of humor. But then this suit will go down in a similar manner to Hustler V Falwell which established parodies and satire as protected speech. But in this case he is just telling the truth funny how that tends to offend folks like you more. Funny that the truth makes you upset.

Not really that odd when you look at history then you just shake your head and say here we go again. Comedy has always been a means by which truth is communicated from the court jester to modern times when there is a difficult topic that people don't want to face it is the job of the comedian to help them face it. What I find sad is our news networks have degraded to the point where the court jester is required again.

Jon Stuart was funny. John Oliver is as bland as English food.

I agree, too much of the focus was on Obama and not trying to argue or dispute anything John Oliver said. I had to stop watching at the half mark because his smug face was annoying. I don't think he's stupid, I just think he's completely biased.

States a person with no sense of humor. But this is off topic and if you wish to get back on topic I suspect the others would enjoy that. Back on topic, so a comedian pisses of a rich coal tycoon that has a thin skin and sues anyone that offends him. Murray has a history of doing this he doesn't win much for these cases they are poorly veiled attempts to threaten and silence those that oppose him.

people who absolutely despise Trump loves Oliver, while those who support the President probably have a very low opinion about the comedian. Jon Stewart was funny when he was host. at the very least, he wasn't obsessed over the current President and his comedy portion was well done. Stewart's comedy skits were biased towards the left, but didn't feel too much partisan. granted, the President at the time was completely different to what we have now, but still.. comedies from the left nowadays are so strongly partisan, they'll even openly mock what could have been a deadly shootout, openly say that they wishes some politicians died, and make drawings of a decapitated head...because it's apparently "funny".

as for the topic of being sued... unless there's a strong case for defamation, copyright infringement, the case will probably be dropped.
considering that Oliver is a comedian, chances are, it will be dropped.

edit: some left-leaning comedians are pretty funny though, such as Ellen.

I agree, although I would say Stewart is more of a libertarian if anything. That being said, I am not at all a fan of political comedy. I haven't really heard of a market for conservative comedy besides Last Man Standing, which is pretty tolerable for me. This doesn't include people like Milo Yiannopoulos who too much of a provocateur.

I feel John Oliver is a bit too much of a circle jerk opportunity for me, though I don't think he is in any way vicious.

The government just needs to outright put a ban on coal and invest in nuclear power.
