Please don´t let Amazon take more shows.

I hate Sentai and Amazon so much right now.

Yep I agree. Even know their are a few shows I think Sentai should get for blu-ray/DVD purposes (Konosuba is one, since its finished airing).

Amazon currently has 2 new shows (Dive, Welcome to the Ballroom) and 3 continuing (Re:Creators, Rage of Bahamut, Sagrada Reset). Sentai seems to be going all out on HIDIVE so I'm not expecting Amazon to get much more in the way of exclusives. Aniplex will probably put their shows on Strike again and Sentai might share some but I don't think either will give Amazon any exclusives.

Crunchyroll should just quit and give everything to Amazon, no need for an anmie streaming service that does not have all shows people want to see. Sell it all to amazon before it's too late.

I have prime, but I refuse to pay a second time for what I thought I'd be getting with my prime subscription.

Ignoring Amazon joke... CR cornered themselves by not acquiring worldwide license for all shows and focusing only on US and few other regions. And lets not forget about that video quality drop drama. Current situation is only their own fault.

Really angry that Amazon is trying to start their own anime service. Missed out on a few shows that Crunchyroll SHOULD have had, like Saekano season 2 and Sword Oratoria. Just let Crunchyroll be Crunchyroll....

Be prepared for inconsistent schedules when Amazon Strike gets more shows this Summer.

I just hope CR picks up some of the other shows. The disgusting double paywall from Amazon Strike really ticks me off.

Sword Oratoria is Sentai's and they seem to be leaving Cruchyroll (probably due to Crunchyroll partnering with their biggest competition Funimation) so that likely would have been on Hulu or TAN if Amazon didn't enter anime streaming.

I think they should tell us all the Anime CR is getting now so we can at least know what to look forward to and get the irritation out of the way when we discover what Amazon took.

They can't, because the licensing/contracts process doesn't work that way; CR can only announce once they have full approval from Japan to go forward and do so, and oftentimes these negotiations can last until the day before (or even hours before) the show's start date. If you take a look at any of their past season announcements you'll see that they announce shows in batches, once they get approved to do so. It is impossible to say right off the bat what they will/will not have. Sometimes they will get lucky and be able to announce stuff in advance, but this isn't the case for every show they aim for.

If that were the case, CR should have just called it quits when they went legit back in 2009. I take it you haven't been here long, as those early years saw CR only get a minority of the titles airing each season.

While Amazon certainly has deeper pockets than any competition CR has faced before, it remains to be seen how long they will be interested in staying in the game if Anime Strike doesn't turn a profit. It is easy for a new service to outbid CR by losing money, but if that doesn't bring in the required number of subscribers, it won't play out in the long run.

I can't see how it will. They are putting it behind a Paywall in their subscription system. You have to Subscribe to two things. Not even Kindle Prime is behind two subscriptions so why are they putting the Anime Strike behind 2? In addition, When I went to the site looking for it, after I first heard about it, it was not easy to find.

If someone asked me, "What changes would you most expect Amazon to make to Anime Strike if it doesn't catch on?", that would be at the top of my list. I still don't understand why they didn't offer a separate higher priced standalone Strike subscription (i.e., $7 per month vs. the $5 Amazon Prime members pay for it).

Typical new competitors to CR I've been aware of have lasted about 3 seasons before they either went away, faded into obscurity, or became largely irrelevant. Given Amazon's far deeper pockets, however, I could see them going as long as 3 years, although I wouldn't be shocked if it happened sooner.

I believe one item these services overlook is that anime viewers have more of a history and experience with pirating content than more mainstream fare, which weakens the pull of having exclusives.

Of those streaming companies that have served the English-speaking market, only Madman's Anime Lab serving Australia and New Zealand has demonstrated some staying power. Certainly they appear to have done better than those that sprung up in the past to serve the UK.

Do we know how long Amazon's Noitamina deal lasts? I have a feeling they'll evaluate when it expires how Strike is doing and if it's worth continuing.
