Why do you think that Greece won't get any new shows? That is, why do you imagine it will drop from 70%+ of new simulcasts in Spring 2017 to 0% in Summer 2017?

he's saying in the spring season Greece got 70% of the new shows Crunchyroll had. Your original post seems to imply you think they'll get 0% of shows in Greece which would be a 70% loss and very unlikely.

If you'd like to check for yourself go to /lineup and count how many shows are under "New Simulcast Titles" then divide that by 42 (I'm not counting the two movies they added as those are one time things.) For example, in Canada I count 40 (we don't have Yu-gi-oh or Anonymous Noise) so 40/42=95.238%.

Made up my mind to just watch pretty much whatever Crunchyroll gets this season and enjoy myself.

°And certain other countries though select digital outlets° - good, USA only anime is bullshit. Youd think theyd at least try and get them too all Amazon subs but could be CR get non-american rights based on the wording.

It could be Crunchyroll but we're talking about Sentai here who seems to be moving away from Crunchyroll and I have no doubt all these shows will be on HIDIVE.com outside of the US (and hopefully Canada)

Ah yes - makes sense. I had forgotten about the new streaming site. I've yet to check it out but will do it it's getting a lot of exclusives unavailable to me legally anywhere else.

When Funimation and Crunchyroll announced they were going to stop competing and pool their efforts I was wondering what was up. It is pretty clear now they did it because they saw the early rumblings of both Netflix and Amazon starting to get serious. This next year will likely decide a lot as far as what anime streaming will look like in the future. I do think Amazon in particular is underestimating the fansub community, but a lot of anime fans do buy games and the like through amazon so many do already have Prime Accounts. Personally I don't find their current catalog worth $5 a month much less the double pay wall. Their video service in general leaves a lot to be desired.

I have less qualms about Netflix going after some exclusives when they are the top streaming platform and are producing solid animation shows like the new Voltron series. That being said I think they are sourly underestimating how many anime fans actually like to simulcast versus binge watching. You don't want to be picking up highly anticipated shows like Little Witch Academia and sit on it drooling all over yourself.

Meanwhile you have Crunchroll trying to peddle their VRV venture hardcore even to those of us members who are already premium here and just want to enjoy our anime through this platform in peace. I'm enjoying all the older catalog titles they are picking up from Funimation, but there is only so many older catalog titles they can get before they will be back to mostly relying on simulcasts to garner interest.

I would not be at all surprised if CR and Funimation become one company in the future especially if Amazon Strike is here to stay.

am i the only one here that does not get why some licenses are limited to only a few countries ? doesnt it make more sense business wise to sell it cheaper to a wider audience ?
