Thanks for the links, interesting stuff to read although the first one is abstract-only for me since I'm not shelling out 10 bucks and don't belong to a sponsoring institution." I wasn't actually challenging the idea that voter ID laws are racist - I don't think they are inherently racist, but as I said there are good historical reasons for being skeptical of the racial impact of voting law.

Well, there's basically three problems.

First, despite crap like the OP, there's no real evidence to back up the claim of widespread voter fraud. Not one state that has enacted these laws has been able to present said evidence. So the problem does not exist on the magnitude being claimed to justify the laws.

Second, the laws disproportionately affects minorities. Who trend Democrat. The laws are being pushed by Republicans. So one party is pushing it and one party is benefiting from it politically and that party is one in the same. Which further calls into question the real objective of them.

Third, and finally, there's one more issue that gets overlooked and conveniently ignored by proponents of these laws:

It costs money to get the proper identification. This was one of two issues the Justices brought up when these hit the Supreme Court ( the other being the racism thing ). Its not "simple" to get the required identification if you can't afford it. So the laws amounted to a State imposed tax on voting. Which even if you completely removed the racism angle would still be a really big problem.

Your trying so hard to do mental Olympics with this one. Just stop the answer is a simple one. I just.......... you know what, no. I'm just going to let this drive you nuts since you will probably never guess it.

Gotcha. >.>

Have yet to see any concrete evidence of these so called claims. That being said I have no idea how so many adults are supposedly functioning in society without any form of identification. I mean, I can understand the very elderly, but are there millions of people living completely under a rock? I really don't get it.

its more common than u think
I had a friend of my family who was here illegally for over 30 years

my grandparents also know a Chinese faily that's been here 15 years illegally and own a restaurant

I was referring in regards to US citizens not having ID. How do you work? How do you go to school? The doctor's office? Pay bills?

Does anyone have a link to the actual survey itself? Somehow "justfacts" seems like a source that is unlikely to be factual in nature.

This is not what the term means by the people who use it and you know it. Does it make you feel good about yourself when you reinterpret what others say in order to allow you to hate them more easily?

When did I say I hated anyone but those that create their own mismatched meanings to words that already have accepted meanings. You choose the meaning that you want to assume rather than what is the accepted and stated. Your mind is closed and not indicative of an open individual......sheep much.
