vtec crossovers are...funny lol. its so ricer its not even funny. Id rather slap on a pair of vtec killer cams and just a constant stream of power instead of having to wait.

(i own a honda btw)

Back on topic, my personal fav sounding motor would be this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1Z7ZlAQs5o

NSX with ITB's

or

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC9urhtFGmo

this is for the realm of under 50K.

VTEC is the troof. Other than it's intended purpose of increasing HP up top, it doesn't need to "engage harder" to make it sound badass.

I facepalm every time I hear someone do that because it also ruins the smooth power deliver.

i never mentioned anything about making it engage harder to make it sound better. its all pointless anyways. like i said, if it were up to me, id build a K motor with vtec killer cams and just run that but not on my daily i know TONS of people who have maps on both N/A and boosted honda's that run vtec so low, youd think it was stupid... but guess what, they make power. early on and globs of it too. if they had the choice, they'd delete that annoying crossover and just run it constantly.

wrong, it is not pointless, you are forgetting what it was originally intended for, v-tec delivered good gas mileage, while giving you power when you wanted it, obviously in this case the higher rpms.
toda vtec killer cams really, really make the car sound and idle like shit, plus your gas mileage is also decreased.
i personally would keep vtec on the car and just upgrade to a higher duration of cam profile so i can keep my good mpgs and have a good amount of power where i need it, while keeping my car from sounding like ass from the vtec killers and ppl loling at the popcorn sound cuz they dont know that the cam increases overall power.
if i was building a track car, i wouldnt give a shit, throw vtec killers in my motor and be happy with the awesome responsiveness and power of the engine.
vtec-good for street driving and good mpgs
vtec killer cams-track and circuit use
you get the picture.

***EDIT*** oh shitt, i didnt notice some moron brought this post back from the dead, my badd, i just saw when your posts were rite now loool (face-palms head)

I have not logged on in over a year but I will just to respond back to this comment.

Take a quick look at my post again. When I mentioned it was pointless, it was all sound related. What sounds bad to you may sound good to others. I do know what vtec was intended for, however I also know that it is also the reason for people not making as much power as they should. You should have know when I said I wouldnt delete vtec from my daily either

You know what? I've always thought that there is no such thing as a bad-sound V8. There's sweet-sounding tiny-little 2.4L Formula One V8s, and then there's gigantic American and Australian V8s that sounds like beasts out of hell!

I'd like someone to disprove my theory, although I can't possibly imagine a V8, let alone any 8-cylinder, to sounds awful!
