i think age 18 is ok. for the benefits you get, its reasonable. they should lower the drinking age to 18 again and the military should be drinkin free beer. also if the age for recruitement increases, so would the age for legal adulthood.

Technically, you can drink booz while you're on base, that is what my friend told me.

but it aint for free i dont think, you gotta by it from their store or from their bar or somethin.

ur legally able to do whatever u want when ur 18. if i were to join i would be kicked out so fast. if i was in iraq and i was about to be shot i would grab the person next to me to take the shot. im pretty cold hearted

It doesn't matter anyway since they can easily get booz without being 21. For example, go to a "bad" neighborhood and buy it from them or ask a friend to get it.

Then Americans wonder why is there all this under-age drinking hmm cuz u set the legal limit so high that its tempting to break it... in europe u can drink at any age u want and the kids there learn what is moderation and here we binge drink...

Still why is the rental car age so high?? I mean basically u get everything at 18 except drinking and rentin cars... so u dont rent a car when u r drunk???

Lol the military wont give out free booze...

I think 18 is reasonable, after all, its you're choice to join or not. Although I have heard that some countries force male's into a military academy when they are about 14 or something and they start training...

America has some lineant military requirements. South Korean males are required by civil duty to attend 3 years of basic training. No pay. 3 years or prison as well as no job.

First like what Corey said you can't drink on base if you are under age. If you are in a country that has a lower drinking and you are legal in that country to drink you aren't suppose to be drunk on base even if you got drunk off it. In other words U.S. laws are in effect on U.S base no matter what country you are in.

I think the 18 years old is perfect for the military it gets a lot of people coming out of high school that don't know what they are going to do with there life and give them a chance to find out and grow. Going into the military doesn't stop them from farthing there education actully in many regards it helps because they get extra training and are normally encored to take classes and further there degrees.

and by reading that is means that over sees it will be 21 unless the commander says other wise then it can be lower but no lower then 18 so it deepens on the base you go to.
