I'll say no thanks because of ISIS

Yup, this. I'd love to travel overseas, but alas, ISIS terror attacks in Europe and the threat of China and NK in Asia.

We used China airlines, EVA and Korean Air before. EVA is can be annoying young kids. I would say Korean Air is better among the 3.

Right now i'm looking for tickets for our up coming trip

ANA price is about the same price as Air China--

Japan Airlines has the FASTEST overall travel time (21 hr to and 20hr back ?)

I noticed the price of the tickets will change depending on which day you are buying it and which day you are flying... Tuesday is not the best day to buy as they stated the same for Thursday. I think Sunday is the best day for where we are going from the look of it.

*got the tickets for the flights we wanted-- on a Wednesday though

The best time to book plane tickets would be August (the last week of August to be exact)..

I saw a similar flight with 21 hr to and 20hr back for $770 on August 27-- the same flight is now $980 (as of 9/7/2017).

$19,000-ish.. you have to make at least 1 million a year to be willing to spend 19K for a plane seat

From what I read you should never take an airline operated out of China if you need to catch a connecting flight. Chinese based airlines were all ranked most likely to suffer from delays.

It's been a while so i didn't know about this. I was curious why i can't pick the seats for all the planes we will be flying on beside Japan Airlines. I found out that the rest we have to book through American Airlines

We can pick any available seats without extra cost with Japan Airlines-- first come, first serve basis

American airlines ?

The only airline I could ever pick a seat that I didn't need to pay an extra fee for was Alitalia.

It's been a while for me as well... but i think it's probably because of this.. The price you will pay is for the seat itself so now they are starting to charge extra for various seats in certain locations of the plane?

If that is the case, i would want a $200 discount if i'm sitting next to the lavatory!!

Yes I travel outside the country often and everyone else should too.

My passport just actually expired also and I'm getting all the paperwork ready to renew it. I'm getting the book and card because I cross into Mexico often and the card would be easier to carry. Also $140 is not a lot when your passport lasts 10 years. $140 is what my yearly car registration renewal cost is anyways. I plan on going back to Japan at the beginning of the year with my friends and their band to watch them play a couple of shows and will need my passport anyways.

Traveling outside the country was the story of my life the last three years as I was working overseas in Mongolia. My go to airline was Korean Air, and I used orbitz for tickets most of the time. One thing I found helpful was that if the food wasn't steaming when they gave it to you, then you probably shouldn't eat it.

I got a reply from them about the Global Entry application. I hate general answer. They pretty much copy and paste the answer from this page

I didn't know they will bill it separately. travel agent fee of $5 ? that's not bad
