This ignores maximum memory capacity...who wants to live forever if the cranial storage unit is maxxed

Yep, that's totally wishful thinking there as nothing lasts forever, not even the Earth (though it will be a bazillion more years before that happens).
Whoever thought about that just wants to make quite a big stir out of it as that couldn't possibly happen as there's a maximum shelf life on everything. People just want to think crazy thoughts.

existence lasts forever ;P jokes aside there is a maximum shelf life on everything that is true but to think that doesn't mean there is no way around it is childish and crazy at most.

Nothing will last forever for humans but it is highly likely we will find a way to massively extend our lifespans (but nothing is set in stone we can only predict such a thing).

To be fair it's too early to say whether immortality / living forever / living for thousands of years is impossible or a childs dream.

even if it is a childs dream it's worth reaching for even on the off hand that it's true imo.

But even if we cure old age, people will still die when they are killed

old age can be cured, but I don't see any government allowing that kind of cure out to the public. 'I think I have explain how aging after reaching ones prime can be stopped, but hint look into Lobsters and you will see how aging can be stopped.. Wile humans will still die ' at least you die looking young.

So basically, the secret to immortality is the Gavin Free School of Medicine. "Just don't do it!"

If consciousness can be replicated and uploaded digitally then sure, otherwise, no. There is a limit for the biological brain. Every other organs in the body can be replaced in the future with stem cells but you can't really replace the brain without it being a new person.
