No, because it's the first Nintendo console where you have to pay for the online. For a console with a main Pokemon game rumored to be coming soon for it, it would endanger Pokemon fans who play online like myself. Only if they ever make the online free later in the lifespan, I would consider getting one. I also feel like the third-party support would later leave the Switch like it did for the Wii U.

The mainline Pokémon game was confirmed by Nintendo at their Direct at E3, although it isn't specified if it is a remake of a released Pokémon game or if it's new.

Keeping their servers online costs a lot to run so it's not a surprise that they are making it subscription based, considering how cheap it will be compared to other companies like Sony and Microsoft it's quite a good deal at $20 a YEAR.

Then, I'll just stick to Steam, PC, the 3DS, retro systems, and (maybe) the PS4 Slim for now because the Switch is currently too expensive.

The console itself or the online subscription?

Yeah that's understandable, I'm sure that next year there will be some sort of deal on it or even later knowing Nintendo with their prices.

The console is not worth it unless you don't already have a Wii U. The best games on the Switch right now are Wii U games (Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8). Seeing as I have a Wii U, the Switch does nothing for me so far. Odyssey looks great, but I need more than one game for a system.

The Switch is tempting but I'm still waiting for a Black Friday sale or hopefully a small Christmas discount

Same here. I'm waiting to see what sales they will have on it during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Also I'm letting the game catalog grow a little bit too. Besides, right now I have so many other games that I need to buy between August through October, on top of all the manga that I keep buying.

I think it is worth the price but it wouldn't hurt to wait for the price drop since there may be more games out by then

I would wait a bit longer. Perhaps a price drop, and certainly a much more mature echo-system & line-up.

To all whom are waiting for that holiday price drop, I'm not sure you'll be getting one by then, at best I would expect a limited run bundle that includes a game. But with that Digital Foundry system build cost breakdown putting the system at like $257 per console driving that price down is going to be hard. Not only that, but they did that air freighter shipment which is an extremely costly way to bring the system over here so they have to recoup some money from that. Lastly the battle between Apple and Nintendo for parts for their devices has not ended so production is tight and the systems are still flying off the shelves at $300 so I'm not even sure they would think it necessary to do a price drop.

All of that aside, is it worth $300? Personally for me, it absolutely was. I'm often out about running errands or doing something and with some down time I can enjoy the Switch and those home console games I wish to play more of, but can't. Right now the big games are limited, for me I have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Arms, but there are plentiful indie titles being released that I've picked up enough to keep me busy. Not to mention I still play my PS4 when I can. And I know for me, the coming line up is reason enough to have it. Fire Emblem Warriors, Fire Emblem 2018, Mario Odyssey, Metroid Prime 4, Shin Megami Tensei 2018, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, etc.

I understand there is a mentality of wait for the games, but I think it's better to get the Switch now, when it's not as big of a console as far as library goes. That's way less to buy. I've ended up purchasing 2 additional sets of Joy-Cons ($80 each), a pro controller ($70), 3 Physical release games (2 for $60, LoZ LE for $100), screen protectors ($12), Charging Grip for the Joy-Cons ($30), and tomorrow I have my Splatoon Haul which will include the game ($60) and the LE pro controller ($75). If you get a Switch now it's super easy to spread out the cost of everything, the longer you wait the more things you'll probably picking up with it. But hey you also might not need all those extra goodies I spent tons of money on, so this is all totally subjective.

It's definitely worth its money. Even for Zelda alone.

Then there is Splatoon 2, Snipperclips, Snake Pass, Bomberman, Arms, Super Mario Odissey (to be released), a new Metroid (to be released), a 3D Pokémon game (to be released), a new Yoshi (to be released), a new Kirby (to be released), ...

Generally speaking, if you like Nintendo's games, the Switch is a must-have.

Yes it is.
FYI, I had to purchase mine in a bundle for $600 from GameStop. It came with BoTW, Dance Revolution, a code to download Snipperclips. Forgot what else came with it. So yeah, I didn't intent to purchase this at that price. I had to cause it came up while on NowInStock's website. So, I scrambled for it haha.

Always preorder your consoles, you never want to be one of those who are scrambling online to purchase that console. I had made one account for each website NowInStock had up, place my creditcard info in etc. Rearing to go when, I see one of those stores has the console for purchase online.

Good luck to all who will be shopping for a Switch for Thanksgiving and Xmas, expect the unexpected. Just hope Nintendo is prepared for you thanksgiving and xmas this year with lots of Switches on the shelf. I'd be sad if not, knowing how many small children begged for this console, only to here wait for Xmas or Thanksgiving. Then those holiday comes around and their isn't on the shelf.

Not now anyway. I'd wait a year later to see how the game line-up is doing along with the console reliability.
