Ehhhh.. I think you guys are being too harsh.

If you want to be with someone, it's ridiculously easy to meed them, and if you fail, you just try again. practice makes perfect. You also have to consider your own standards and what you want. Maybe you're asking for too much yourself.

ON THE OTHER HAND, I really don't do the whole dating and meeting people thing because, 1. I haven't the god damned time. 2. I'm just not that into people... Last relationship was between 10 and 15 years ago, left a sour taste in my mouth. Could have just hopped from one girl to the next, but felt cheap as hell... A lot of people do that though (I find it rather distasteful). Since then, I've only become more... I want to say misanthropic, but that's not it. Other people just want want want... Same goes for friends, family, work....

I used to try and do things with friends or family, since going out to dinner, watching a movie, etc. seems more like things you should do socially, but I'm trying to buck the trend and teach myself that not having others with me isn't a viable excuse for not having fun.

Now if I could only find the proper work/life balance.

Nevertheless finding someone's easy. It always starts with a "hello".

Couldn't agree any more.Generally if you figure out yourself first and learn to live with yourself happily, then things tend to fall into place... and if they don't at least you are happy!

There is, it's called Crunchyroll.

That is like 20% of the plan, yes
Another 40% is friends in general, and the last 40% is fun (note that sections can overlap)

I don't think a dedicated service is the right way to do this, mostly because there probably isn't enough people interested to work with effectively.
I think Anime sites with sections for meeting people, with a subset for meeting partners, would work a lot better.

Just go to local anime conventions and try talking to girls, i mean its not easy but hey the potential outcome is having a girlfriend to enjoy anime with which is worth the risk trust me. Or just do what i did and use Tinder and put that you like anime in your description its how i found my misses.

I met my misses through a friend cause we all like anime and she was a town away and we all like anime and she was in a anime club at her school and we went to their school and we saw their club and that's how I met her in high school...like 7 years ago now. You just have to put a bit of effort and know the right people. Stick with the anime community

Sorry if I'm stepping on the toes of another post here, since I haven't read the whole thread. Some issues I see with CR having a dating or meet friends function is the age range. I would be willing to bet the vast majority of the people on here are under the age of 18 so that could cause all sorts of undue grievances or legal issues. Even if you put disclaimers and say you can't use it unless you are a certain age and blah blah. I think it's a functionality that would be way more hassle to implement and manage than it would be worth monetarily.

As for another anime specific dating site, I don't think there would be enough people honestly. Maybe if you lived in a huge city you would have more than the same 10 people but I can't see it working. Surely on the other dating sites you could put anime as an interest and search for others with the same interest too right?

what if you live in a town full of hillbillies where no one has a job due to mass unemployment and refuses education and is the highest drug town in your state as well as unemployed.

A town where 90% of the residents are jackasses.

That's a situation where i am in and the option is fuck doing outside stay inside it's not worth all the bullshit you will see and here and oh god the shit people here say (Farming towns are hell)

That's a good point, I'm looking at it a little too conventionally. In reality it wouldn't matter if you were on opposite sides of the globe. Love is love.

My biggest issue is in Mississippi

I know that feel D: Texas is my biggest issue and not even just with anime, it's pretty much a majority of my interests lol
I'm in an extremely small town (like, under 1k people here and most are over the age of 50 and the town is literally just a Walmart, Mcdonalds, a few gas stations, some houses and that's about it) and it bugs me when someone's solution is "just go to the next town" and I'm like "please, it's Texas, the next town is a 45 min+ drive" and it's exactly the same.

A couple friends have suggested to try online dating, so I go to do that, set it to about 100 miles. I either end up with no one with any similar interests or only one or two people, but they're taken and just want friends or something like that. Most of the ones, the site gave the highest match percent at around 40%ish. From my experience, it seems anywhere near me, the only interests people have are hunting, mudding and other outdoor things like that :/
So for fun, I took off the distance and suddenly I ended up with more people with a 98%-99% match than I knew what to do with. I obviously live in the wrong area, because all of those were outside Texas, specifically none of the states that bordered Texas either lol Too bad moving isn't an option.

Let's just say dating is a lot harder than it used to be

^ This.
Now, I've only had about three relationships in my life (haven't had one since about 2010, if you can even call them relationships lol longest was like a year, which ended similarly to how most people are talking about long distance, they were dating someone at the same time as me...) and I can tell you, it was definitely a lot easier just only 7ish years ago.
Got similar interests? Enjoy hanging out with each other? Might be interested? Then you're good to go to give it a try.

But now it feels like you have to have similar interests, but at the same time have no interests in common, make a ton of money, be over 6'0, be super athletic, jump through hoops on fire while carrying a dozen eggs on a paper towel while archers shoot poison tipped arrows at you while you're barefooted on lava, knowing every subtle hint that's not actually subtle, all while at the same time, purposely ignoring them, just to maybe get them to consider you. o_O Then to top it off, they proceed to complain how they'll be forever alone... lol
At least from my experience over the years.

Moral of the story, don't bother with people because your hobbies won't let you down as often >_> lol

Maybe organize group meetings with other crunchyroll members that will be visiting conventions, it would actually be a good opportunity to meet folks with similar hobbies in their local areas.
