Well, this brings back memories from my past, lol. My cousin, who was pulling in low 6-figures at the time as a contractor, suggested I go the Mechanical Drafting route like him. I followed his advice and compounded the error by listening to a good friend, head drafter for McDonnell-Douglas back in the day who also earned well, who suggested I get the 4-year degree in Computer Drafting versus 90-day wonder via night school (my intent). Hell, by the time I got through all the high-paying drafting jobs had become redundant thanks to computer technology advances. No 6-figure income came my way doing that; more like Law of Unintended Consequences: 2nd shift, entry level in a manufacturing corporation with CYA / CYB 24/7 to boot.

I'm not sure if you heard of the saying

A degree is like a hunting license but it does not guaranteed you will be able to catch anything.

It's true for some fields. That co-worker is now taking various classes for another degree. Colleges/Universities are businesses after all

On my 2nd time through earning, oh no another degree back in the early '80's, the faculty was/were quite upfront about that very dilemmae confronting reinvention wannabes hoping to advance/further their station in life. They all told me getting a degree in anything was no guarantee of job placement or attainment. And though I did manage to find work 4 months after I finished the program, looking back there are times I wished I chose something different as a lifestyle.

I recall the 1st time through (1970: draft was the main motivator why I stayed versus drop out sophomore year) when I wound up buying a job (O-O contract trucker in HHG) 1 of my University of Kentucky grad student friends told me he was envious I actually got work right out of school (actually, after graduation it took 9 months of job rejections while doing PT job shit work with no future to decide I needed to take a big risk and become self-employed versus working for some big venue). He had just completed his Master's in something scientific, couldn't find any opportunities worthy of his self-minded pay grade so began working toward a PhD in Chemistry....a la professional student with a wife who worked as a secretary and 2 young kids. Man oh man, talk about putting self-imposed stressors on your psyche.....

I have a masters degree in art. That's why I have a job as a security guard. I also have a two year technical degree in carpentry, but then I would have to deal with construction workers all day. Those guys are *holes.

Currently in my last semester. Will graduate in August with my BSBA in Marketing Management. I have a Associates in Science to go along with it.

Luckily started working for a Healthcare company last year helping them with some projects and have been offered a full-time job once I'm done. So things are looking pretty good, just hope I don't mess anything up.

Yes. It's a class related to psychology. You will learn about victims of domestic violence, crimes, etc..

You do realize that i'm the person you are talking to in the feminism thread right ? Do you think i'm one of the SJWs/Feminists from my posts ?

Yes, a Bachelor of Science focused mainly in general psychology and mental health.
Originally I wanted to work in Social Work and I minored in English.

>It's been 1 year into post-grad and I haven't found actual employment yet. It's very frustrating since almost all my other classmates have found jobs.

I honestly wish I could start all over again and have the luxury of pursuing a more organized field such as Nursing or something related.
( I would love to say fashion/design or something artsy but that isn't how the world works...)

Did you look into all the current laws and the true costs of operating a business ?

I would recommend NOLO website and their books
