I like this anime it's hard sometimes to follow all the clans / but it's funny / action but with love stories all around misguided as they may be

Fox Spirit Matchmaker (Enmusubi no Youko-chan) EP 9 Ohken Fuuki

Welcome to Tosan

Fox Spirit Matchmaker (Enmusubi no Youko-chan) EP 10

Nice backstory and extra ED

BTW the music is really nice in this anime / like listening to the Asian version of Marvin Gaye

Episode 11

Need to clear out some misunderstandings due to the sub errors.

During the exchange between Touhou Gessho and older Suusu, they pointed out the reason why they saved Fuuki. The elephant youkai that Fuuki spared in episode 10 asked her, older Suusu to help. Touhou somehow knew this and preceded to act on his own. That's why she said "this is none of your buisiness". She is the one who was asked to help, not Touhou. The sub team must be confused.

And during the "pure love bible" scene, Tosan yaya had a thought in mind as shown, "This is the book I wrote for my sister(o-nee-sama)." This is supposed to be the first clue of who older Suusu is. Anyway, it should be "This is the book HE (Touhou) wrote for my sister(o-nee-sama)".

Edit: Another big one. During the exchange between Touhou and Fuuki's father, Touhou said his mom, Shinran, risked her life protecting Fuuki's mom, Kaishuu. This is the opposite of the truth. Fuuki's mom, Kaishuu, is the one risked her life marrying into Ohken family so the Ohken family can protect her younger sister, Shinran, from the others.

This is another indication that would doing the translators doesn't understand the story at all, it's almost as if it's a fun sub team subbing a brand new series and only have access to episodes that already aired. There is a half episode later on this series exploring this story and even late on 40 chapters of manga that experiences this plot from Fuuki's mom's perspective...

Episode 12:

There comes a lot of new information. Who's this Southern Princess? Why does she want Suusu dead? Why does she call Haku her Geshho-chan? Sadly these question won't be directly answered in this adaptation. All I can say right now is she is the MC of Chinese Season 6 and anything before that is just foreshadowing.

The relationship between Touhou and the Tosan clan gets more complicated this episode. "Unrequited love", "not worthy of her", " doesn't believe in her" and "battle between Tosan and Unification League". Keep an eye on it and it will soon be addressed.

TOKYO MX has announced that there will be a break next week due to some special show. I'm sure CR will address this later.

Fox Spirit Matchmaker (Enmusubi no Youko-chan) EP 11 "Touhou Gessho”

A good backstory and we kinda know why Gessho is wanted so much ! His Debt

The animation / art is good The clans are sure messed up but funny

Lolo Tosan is a piece of work

Touhou Gessho previous reincarnations common trait ( FOOD ! )

Episode 13

Two weeks waiting and we get this. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Please check out the original Ep 26-27. They were changed so much. The sub certainly doesn't help either.

I wrote a summary of these two episodes here.

Ep 26 https://imgur.com/a/YRFwZ 15p
Ep 27 https://imgur.com/a/yu6gU 16p

It pointed out all the major changes and have comments that will definitely help you understand the character (Yaya, as she is heavily focused) and the storytelling better. With this you can even watch the original without sub.

Here is the KISS scene with a more emotional BGM: https://youtu.be/prPSfUsQsQE?t=35s
DELETED bathing scene with Yaya pondering when was the last time she drank this much: https://youtu.be/prPSfUsQsQE?t=10m26s

Before I rant, I'd say the new OP/ED are pretty good, although the original ones are still better IMO. The new OP's animation is a bit slow compared to the song.

Original OP: https://youtu.be/PyevndAE11s

Excuse me for borrowing this to rant. Ignore it if you didn't watch the original.

If you like non-linear story telling, the you'll enjoy season 3 then. It is non-linear plot done very well, even though the plot is as warps as say Inception, you don't feel confused while watching it.

Guess what, they decide to mess up this well-organized Inception-like storytelling.

With the stupid cut, the transition between the memory and the reality becomes random af. At one moment Touhou and Yaya were having a good time and starting to clear the air, one second later they went back to killing each other. How does this make any sense besides making her a maniac? "You two had a dream? Well, like I give a fxxk. You already dead and I don't mind killing another you?" The way they treat her, the most important character plot-wise that connects the present and the past, is beyond belief.

Also, regarding the "dream". How to properly introduce a key concept? Let's bury it in the dust so people can forget about it right away. Who would possibly care about this concept when they put it there?

And they deleted bathing scene, a fan service that actually advances the plot and shows character development later, which is the reality end of the whole storytelling structure. Perfectly meets the expectation of a director who doesn't even know the big picture. Not even mad.

Having not watched the original series, I didn't find the transitions confusing. Of course the test of time will prove if my memory retains the details correctly (if something important is missed, going back to unravel the timeline to find it does make all this jumping around detrimental in the long run).

The OP was an improvement.

Episode 14:

Alright, the only thing that need explanation here is the toll. It's protection fee and it matches people's power level. So for our little Touhou it's just 1 coin : )

Also Koko's hands, they are her special tools/technique that can neutralize any other techniques, well, except for the sacred fire, for now, as it's super effective against all youkai.

EDIT: The way Touhou addresses Koko here, Fox Spirit Lady, loses its original intimacy/admiration due to the language difference. In the original, there is a word called “妖仙”.“妖” means Youkai/Spirit, and “仙” means Fairy/Celestial being. There isn't a short enough expression for this in Japanese so it turned into “妖狐 youko” as Fox Spirit Lady. IMO Fox Fairy Lady can be a better term in English.

Episode 15

Umh, the blood transfusion is more like bone marrow transplantation in traditional Chinese medicine. Hope people not be bugged by it.

And the reason why the Tosan don't kill anyone will be implied later.

One more thing, in the last scene where Touhou "confessed", Koko's thought was shown in the manhua/manga, which is

What to do if you randomly remove and reorder scenes and consequently ruin the logical structure of a multi-layered storyline?

Editor of the Japanese version: why not make a recap episode (and still manage to ruin the logical structure of that multi-layered storyline).

Lmao. What a genius. The recap of the drinking scene is needed but the one of the last 2 episodes? Even Naruto should be ashamed lol.

On the other hand, the fan service actually gets more effort. They show Yaya's lower extremities and add an alternative angle of her standing up. This is definitely the right way to make up for the filler. /s
