The first episode is now out: http://www.crunchyroll.com/knights-magic/episode-1-robots-fantasy-741071

Episode 1

And so it begins much like with Konosuba where the MC is an otaku who unexpectedly died way too soon, and he's reborn into an alternative world as Ernesti where he would learn magic and become a Knight Runner. He was so determined to become on as quickly as possible that he studied like it was computer science, and he was well ahead of the class. Only problem is that he's too small to fit inside a mecha to pilot it, so he powered up in everything else. Not bad for a first episode, but I just don't get the feeling that this will be worthwhile in the end, so I'll keep watching for now before knowing what to do with it.

Now just waiting for the point where the three adult pilots are killed off for Ernesti and friends to inherit their mechs. Although, if Ernesti builds his own, then that'll allow at least one of the three adults to survive. Oh wait, I forgot about the half-sister. In that case, it's likely that all three adult pilots can already be considered dead. I assume that Ernesti and friends are going to remain in middle school for at least half of the season before another time skip?

Episode 1

We get introduced to a hardcore Otaku who is respected in his life and also collects Gundam look-alike figures as a hobby. After getting mysteriously knocked over by a car, he is reborn as a young boy named Ernesti (who looks way to much like a girl) who's goal is to become a Silhouette Knight pilot (basically a Gundam pilot). After saving a young girl, he becomes close friends with a boy named Arichid and the girl called Adeltrud. He seems to be especially skilled in magic because he passes a full year of school just by displaying a bit of skill. The episode ends with the middle and high schoolers (high schoolers pilot the MECHA's) going out on a exhibition to hunt down some monsters but running in to some big trouble after setting up camp somewhere.

Overall the episode wasn't bad but the forced cuts in some of the battle scenes were quite of putting and the pacing of the show is way to spread out and, as I'm guessing, we probably missed a lot of character development with them big time skips. Other from that everything was just ehh but will probably watch another couple of episode just to see where it goes.

Episode 1

This one seems like a cut and dry series, but simultaneously fun as well.

Honestly, this might be the action fun series of the season, which is fine since those shows are always ambitious with production and such.

For all the bitching about Crunchyroll not getting decent shows, I thought that was pretty good. The reborn in a fantasy world idea is almost becoming a genre in its own right, and I was playing the game of which three shows fused together makes this one.

I liked the childlike sense of wonder of being in a fantasy world, yet he's retained at least some of his previous knowledge to make development faster.

I don't know if the battle at the end was just compressed to save time, and my hope is that the battles gain some tension as we go on. On one hand it's got a lot of potential, but on the other seemed surprisingly childish for a show going out at 22:30 in Japan.

I'll just stand here as this car is barreling towards me....sigh...at least with Tanya the guy was pushed infront of a oncoming train and didn't have a option but this ehhhh....but we end up with Ernesti who looks like if Arslan and Emilia had a kid. Decent mech designs leaning more towards a Gundam look instead of a Fafnir/Argevollen.

From what I can tell he isn't 100% aware of his past life. It's just that the love of Giant Robots is so strong that part of him just kind of woke up when he saw them. The Past life seems to only have relevance to explain his talent and obsession

Not a bad first episode, seems a little rushed in some areas but the show looks like it will be fun

Fun enough so far. And everything looks good.

But WTF with that English title? Who decided putting an apostrophe there was a good idea, and why?

I'll give it props for looking a heck of a lot better, both in still and in motion, than I thought it was going to. Seems clear there's a talented team and/or a bunch of money behind this one. That said, I just couldn't care less about the show and actually had trouble staying awake for the whole episode. I can't see myself coming back for week 2 on this one.

I found this meta explanation funny/pertinent. From copywritingacademy

Is the greengrocer’s apostrophe an actual apostrophe belonging to an actual greengrocer?

No. While the apostrophe is a literal apostrophe, the greengrocer is figurative. Like the curate’s egg.

In fact you are just as likely to see a greengrocer’s apostrophe emanating from a large corporation or municipal authority as you are from a real live fruit and veg merchant.

All of which means that in this compound noun, greengrocer’s is an adjectival particle not a possessive. We are not asking whose apostrophe is it, but what kind of apostrophe is it? And there’s our answer. Because you don’t change the form of an adjective when making a plural out of the noun it qualifies.

So it follows that if you see several examples of the greengrocer’s apostrophe you have greengrocer’s apostrophes.

UNLESS you have walked past three greengrocers’ shops and seen the heinous punctuation error outside each one.

Then you would have seen three greengrocers’ greengrocer’s apostrophes.

It's like they combined Log Horizon and Escaflowne.

The reincarnation story is getting a bit annoying. But otherwise I enjoyed it.

And seriously, anime characters need to watch out for moving vehicles. I think getting hit in some fashion is going to overtake having an accident on those curvy mountain roads in Japan.

Well, thank you for point something out that will undoubtedly irritate me for the rest of the season.
