Koi to Uso

Synopsis

Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden. In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don't have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy. Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can't seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically he's below average. But within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?

The show page is up, but at this time the first episode is not playing.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073PC1SL6/ref=sr_1_1?s=instant-video&ie=UTF8&qid=1499097650&sr=1-1&keywords=Love+and+Lies

UPDATE: And the first episode is now working on Amazon.

Episode 1

That was quite an intense way to open things up. In this place, Japan is forcing the children to marry someone picked by the government, and while Nejima loves Takasaki, unfortunately that's not who he is assigned to. It's some girl name Sanada, and things are going to get pretty awkward from hereon out. That was really something there, and while Takasaki and Nejima were meant for each other, unfortunately the Japan they live in won't allow that to happen.

Anyone know if this is up on HIDIVE yet (United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America, Netherlands, Scandinavia). Want to know if Amazon is already dropping the ball or if this is on Sentai.

It's up on HiDive. Though it's well hidden. It's accessible through the "Schedule", but not on the main page or searchable through the Simulcasts menu.

Though Bang Dream and Classaloid are still flagged as Simulcasts. On a new site.

[edit] Sentai are trolling me - initially I couldn't find it

It's surprising how the phrase "declining birth rates" can make even the most hare-brained of schemes seem like a viable Japanese policy.

Bearing in mind I know very little about the show, I spent the first twenty minutes despairing at the slow pacing, and sheer implausibility of the bland, average, timid, lacking in confidence and self esteem protagonist snagging a hot girl, purely because he'd lent her a rubber five years earlier.

Then the text comes, followed up by the not-at-all-highly-suspicious goverment officials (clearly routine policy to deliver documents at the park at midnight), and the tone completely shifts.

Hot girl is sterile, or prevented from breeding because she has a disease? Definitely feels like they're deliberately stopping her.

One of my more anticipated shows this season, but not able to watch the episode yet due to Amazon player being fucked up, maybe later.

On a another note, apparently anime theme condoms are a thing lol.

Episode 1

40 years before the story begins a law passed where the government choses who your going to marry once you reach the age of sixteen. Nejima getting close to that age decides to confess to the girl he's been in love with and turns out she loves him too. At midnight he receives his notice through text and looks like his partner is Misaki, but soon people arrive with papers with his partners name and turns out it's not Misak but Lilina Sandai. Misaki congratulates him on his birthday and runs away only for Nejima to chase after her.

The first episode started off great and can't wait to see more.

That's a nice package for those condoms. Main girl's making a strong case to be best girl.

If declining birth rates are a problem, perhaps faulty condom distribution would be a viable solution.

Let's see an anime about that!

So not a bad start. Weird that a single eraser was all they needed to fall in love strong enough to last 5 years, but this is the same show that has government workers going to a boy in a park telling him who he's going to marry so I'll just accept the weirdness. Except for the cellphone. The email he got had the screen shaking so right away I could tell something was off, but then it suddenly disappears right before the other people show up. Was his phone hacked? And if so, who would play such a strange prank on him like that? I hope that gets explained in the future since right now that's the biggest mystery.

Also curious to see what Lilina is like. I've seen people elsewhere saying good things about her. I wonder what all the hype is about.

I thought the first episode was really cute. I don't know why, but I enjoy the bumbling style of teenage love and relationships.

I think perhaps because I was not able to enjoy that time of my life really. (long story)

I am interested to see where this is going with eventually another boy and girl being added to the mix. Does initial feelings of love and desire win out in the end? Or do they grow from all of this and realize that wanting to be in love and actually being in love are two totally different things? Or better yet were the mutual feelings true and real and love ends up breaking through and conquering all?

I don't know why, but the first episode actually has me excited about the possibilities of where this show might head.
