It's up on Anime Strike and Prime Video in Canada and no one had made a discussion post yet and I wanted to post some quick thoughts so here we go:

I was basically expecting Free but with diving instead of swimming but this was quite a bit different so far. For the most part it seems the guys are only going to be trying for the Olympics opposed to in Free having them do other competitions. I liked it overall (except that little kid, he's annoying). I also like the timing as they're aiming for the Tokyo Olympics which are coming up.

Episode 1

Basically, it's all setup and character backgrounds here as Tomo got into the sport by seeing Yoichi doing it. And thus, he joined MDC, but now it's in trouble due to financial troubles, and the only way to save it is for someone to make the Olympics, which are coming to Tokyo in 2020. Pretty slow episode that was, but it laid the foundation well. Coming in, I thought that this was going to be a knockoff of Free!, but it turns out to have a much different feel to it. Let's see where this goes.

mmm it seem more like a typical sports anime

Also I really don't like the color hues and the character design . The story telling is abit weak

So begins the Olympic-themed anime... New events for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics include the return of baseball, the addition of karate, skateboarding, sports climbing and surfing. So far, we have this anime for diving. Next could we get an anime on surfing? I demand surfers!

Anyway, to the point of this show: First episode is *meh*. This is the same studio that did Battery last year on Amazon. Same background feels to it. However, I don't like the animation. The characters don't 'pop', the story isn't gripping, the MC isn't compelling. Perhaps it'll earn better scores after a few more episodes.

It was fine, though it made me wonder what I'm doing with my life when I'm watching a bunch of guys in speedos for 20 minutes. The soundtrack was actually great though, except the anticlimactic dives kind of ruined it. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get hyped for something so lame. I wish they would go slow-motion or like make the sound louder or something. Maybe it's just me. I doubt I'll watch through the whole season though.

Episode 2

Coach Asaki is really tough to deal with. She can tell just by looking that those boys are totally misaligned and are in need of some intense training. While that's going on, she goes out to Aomori to get Shibuki, who is used to diving in the ocean, but not so much in a pool. He now joins the diving team that is aiming for the Olympics and while his form is great, his entry needs lots of work. Well, that was pretty underwhelming there, but at least Asaki is a pretty interesting lady. I wasn't very excited about this show to begin with, so I'll just stop.

New coach is good for this show – lifts it high and tight.

But pulling the story along by herself still keeps it weak overall.

Met a new character, he dives off cliffs and shit. He needs to adjust before he can actually be tournament worthy. Seems like they're really serious about getting to the Olympics.

Welp rival is coming up next episode. The MC is becoming more likable and his friends are giving him a cold shoulder.
