Blood splatters on the screen... Didn't realize I'd been missing badass guys having fun since Drifters last year. Only 11 episodes left to enjoy - yeah, I'm sighing already.

Leave it to Hakuryu to make such wishes...

Never seen this before but because it's a interesting take on "Journey to the West" I'm happy. Love the Monkey King madness.

"What will they find at the end of their long and treacherous journey?"

A shitload of yaoi fan fiction about them.

I'm so happy! I was smiling the whole time I was watching this!! I loved this show as a kid and rewatched the 1st season and watched the OVAs two years ago.

The OP on it's own got me super duper excited: it showed their 500 years ago selves and it showed interesting clips of Nataku (I love anything from the Gaiden era). I can;t wait to know what they all mean!!

The comedy is still as good as I remember and I still love the characters. The art style has changed and is more similar to what they looked like in the OVA than the series although I think it's cause the author's art style in the manga had changed as well after the surgery. It's okay though as they looked like they matured after years of travel.

The design is smoother , I like changes in the OVA back in 2007.Wow ...10 years ago already...I feel old

But hearing all the veteran seiyuu , Toshihiku Seki, Hiroaki Hirata, Akira Ishida and Soichiro Hoshi (who is the youngest of the bunch at 45 ) all together again was pretty funny.
They even kept saying at the end after ," well its the same pattern as always. Yeap the same "

OMG this show is funny as hell. My type of humor. What great dynamics between the guys – the jokes roll so quick and easily.
...It's Tuesday. It's not oversized garbage day....

Ep 4 had great background story. Best episode so far.

Episode 3 actually made me tear up. I did not expect Goku to kind of 'remember' the Gaiden counterparts of his companions. And the truth about Tenjin kind of made me feel sad for him, too.

And they're adding the Gaiden backstory in this series?! Awesome!! I mean there's an OVA already but still... for those who needed catching up, here's the backstory episodes! I'm so happy!! And Nataku's awake!! Can't wait for the angst. So much angst. Yeah!!

What a sad episode.
Wondering where the spare glasses were, remembering the stock of instant ramen that wasn't eaten, the light out in the bathroom — what a touching moment. Heartfelt.

That was a huge plot hole. When did Sanzo meet Ni Jianyi besides that time before he inherited the title?

Yeah. Wish they animated the arcs before this one.

-----

On the other hand, Gaiden arc is over. They shortcut stuff since the OVA and 1st season flashback already covered most parts. Still though, as bloody as it all was, it's still not as graphic as the OVA. I mean... you don't actually see Ten-chan's guts but hey, this is for tv showing. The whole thing is still sad though. Found myself teary-eyed.

And the latest episode... Sharak seems like a really awesome person. I clapped when she just rode on the passenger seat without saying anything. lol 'Sanzo, get in the back.'

But of course, not everything went smoothly so I can't wait til next episode.

Latest episodes thoughts:

Sharak Sanzo is awesome. I like her character and I think she's a great addition to the cast. Kou and Doku appears! I feel bad for Kougaiji having to do things he doesn't like because his step-mom is keeping his real mom hostage. That's terrible but what's happening now to those innocent villagers are just as bad. And Sanzo fighting Kou in a one-on-one is badass. He's not even gonna use his sutra and he manages to fight. So cool.

And is that Nataku in the previews? Oh my gosh... the moment we've all been waiting for!! Reunion and angst!! XD

Another powerful episode. Can feel Kou's agony. Wonder how Dokugakuji's death will affect him – for better or worse? There is a small sliver of hope in him still.

When Kanzeon took away Goku's memories after the crushing defeat in Heaven, that included Nataku. Even though Nataku can remember Goku, his cold shoulder... ouch! Good thing Goku didn't realize how harsh that was.

I gotta say that it's been hard to stay interested in this series after finding out that they cut out the most important meeting for sanzo. I hope that they do a movie or ova so as to bridge that gap.
