I don't like the long screen type of S8+. It's not an ideal format for viewing movie/anime.

You are a full time now ? btw,. is it just me or you are online or on this forums a lot during working hours? slacking off on the job?

Most of the time I'm only posting here during working hours (6am to 5pm). Since demoting myself down from CTO to developer, I've had more time to do next to nothing. All of my projects are 5-6 months ahead of schedule now that I don't have to do them and the ongoing meetings of a CTO. Which means more posting on CR.

Though, next week I'm going to the summer house for two weeks and then I have a business trip to India throughout the first 2-3 weeks of August (I expect less posting or "off-hours" posting if anything during that time). Even then, I'm only going to be there to make sure that other people are catching up to me (or get closer to where I am on various aspects of the product).

Chromebook? Are they the oness with 10" screen :? too small for me. I think Google also released a Pixel tablet ? the keyboard alone is $150 or something ?

12.85" display. The Pixel tablet was nice, but it was too Android and not enough Chrome. The S8+ "tall" is ideal for viewing movies and anime, for me. Makes for the amazing quality of video when streaming Netflix or watching CR anime. The "width" of the N6 made it way too awkward to use for watching things (for me).

Oh. it's one of these theaters that will allow alcohol ? Do you think that's a good ideal ? I think some AMC theaters here will allow drinks/food while watching the movie.

They serve alcohol, food, and snacks before the film starts. I haven't really encountered an issue (yet). I normally get a few mixed drinks and an iced mocha with dinner .. pretty enjoyable (though, costly). I think my average trip to the theater runs me about $80-85 for two people (that's two tickets, two dinners, drinks [they're about $10-15 a pop, so this is where the cost adds up], and sometimes a dessert to share).

Nny scenery pictures of your travel? Most of the pictures I took are of the scenery instead of people. This was before the selfie trend. Personally, i think it's kind of sad that you can't even find someone to take pictures for you so you have to do it yourself ?

You need to get a 2nd job or something to keep your occupy then. Well, you are posting here so it's something to do.

Why not just you just put a theater in your house ? There are houses around here with their own theater in the basement. I think you have to look for houses that are around 1 million though.

I have a few from my trips to India. I'm the same - I take more photos of scenery and landmarks than I do of myself. I can usually get someone (a co-worker) to take a picture of me if it's something I think is "brag worthy" (like an awesome landmark). Here's a few that I grabbed from my FB.

I work three jobs. My full-time job during the day (6 AM to 4-5 PM, depending on if I take a lunch break or not; usually do not), part-time job that I do three nights a week as a network admin/security guy (6:30 PM to 11 PM/12 AM), and a job I do sparingly (usually on the weekends for 5-7 hours if I feel like going in) as a favor to a friend (still get paid $45 an hour to do that anyways). Posting here is kind of hit or miss. If I'm not doing anything, I'll respond to notifications - and if I have a lot more time, I'll just randomly respond to topics in general.

Yeah, no. It's something I've thought about but would end up having to pay a premium (way too much) to have access to films as they come out. The closest thing is Prima Cinema - which I had an account with for a few months. The issue is that if you want a film on release date, it'll cost you about $500. It was nice but way too expensive for as often as I go to the cinema (once or twice a month still doesn't add up to one film from Prima Cinema).

How often do you use public wi-fi ?

Never. Never, ever, ever.
I grew up in the age of computer nerdiness/hacking/cracking where wardriving started. It's still a thing. When I was going to college, I was the guy who had access to pretty much any wifi you could find in a 30-mile radius of my place (free/open or closed). In the modern day, you have so many public WiFi locations (grocery stores, coffee shops, and so on) that it's just begging for trouble.

I've convinced my girlfriend to stop using public WiFi hotspots when I gave her a crash course (I made a dummy network as an access point, then showed her how much data/information her phone was giving me). Indirectly, I got the IT specialist at her school (where she works) terminated because of my packet sniffing - I was able to grab student names, addresses, class/teacher, and parents' name/address just from a few teachers updating records.

Long story short: don't use public wifi. Unless you're having a hallucination in middle of the desert and you think that the water hole you found is somehow broadcasting a public wifi that'll save your life... just leave it alone. Your device broadcasts more data than you think, logging into private accounts or not.

Wouldn't this not work on anything HTTPS? I mean, I realize Crunchyroll doesn't seem to be doing this, but I thought at one point even Chrome was going to display warning pages on anything that didn't support HTTPS.

HTTPS only protects against data being copied from the website usage itself... not from the devices that hook you up to the Internet. And it's not a "blocking" kind of protection, but an encryption kind meaning even then the data "can" be copied... but it's just scribidish that can't be understood unless it's encryption is reversed.

The only reason why you would use a public WIFI is if you wish to update some data that doesn't require any kind of protection... and even that can be risky if the device itself contain some confidential data. For example, If you use your phone to access your bank account or anything "personal", you should never use any public WIFI with that phone ever.

In the long shot, it's even possible for any skilled hacker to access your home network (if hooked to any kind of Internet access) by using another device as a pin-point device. You have 1 device using a public WIFI. They access its core data without you even noticing and place a small background software hidden that activate the next time the device us a "different" WIFI device and send all related data about the modem, WIFI, location ,etc. to a data bank the hacker can freely check upon. Then they are easily able to access any of your device at home. That's the kind of intrusion that is possible when you use a public WIFI.

If you use your Mobile Data signal, the chances of being hacked is a lot smaller (not impossible though, but then the difficulty level of accessing your data is skyrocketing.)

It's been awhile since I've used public Wi-Fi. I don't know if the eduroam wi-fi from the university I attend counts as public.

I don't think the pictures we have are as good as yours. We only had the old "point and shoot" type of camera ($150?) at that time.

If you work for 4-5 different companies but doing the same type of work, would you consider it as having multiple jobs? My friends told me yes but it's a bit complicated than that for me.

I'm logged in with multiple companies and when a call comes in i'll pick up and the timer will start as i logged out with other companies while on call. This is is how they will pay me (per minute on call).

I think the people who have their own theater down in the basement use it for Blu-ray movies though.

I take a lot of pictures. I even have a thread here on CR (Link) for photography. It's kind of one of my hobbies. Those above weren't really edited/modified as much as those in my thread.

You're doing pretty much what I used to do "once upon a time" with Upwork/ODesk, Freelancer, and Guru. Odesk would let me stay clocked in on multiple "contracts" at the same time and would casually take screenshots throughout the day of my work. It's kind of the same job for multiple companies, at the same time. Several jobs, no matter how you look at it.

Yeah, most do use it for blu-rays. My point was that, for a replacement for going to the cinema, I'd have to have access to films around release date in the theater/cinema. That's why I mentioned the Prima Cinema, that's the only service I know that will be a "broker" between you and the studios, but at a fee.

so i have 4 jobs ? I can't help but finding it hard to think of it this way.. I would think having 4 different jobs as having to travel from one job to another. I'm just sitting in my office wearing a headset and typing on the laptop. I'll have 4 tabs for the login pages from each company and will just log in and out this way. I'll use a separate browser for personal use (crunchyroll, youtube, gaming news, ec..) Time will go by faster when i'm doing something between calls.

You heard of Dolby Cinema?
https://www.dolby.com/us/en/platforms/dolby-cinema.html

We have harkins around here so i didn't know about this until recently.

$9 before 12PM
$13 after 12PM .
$16per picture after 6pm.

Technically, yes. You're getting paid by four different employers. You have four jobs. It's "more complicated" because most people think of jobs as something that must be done independently from one another. You just so happen to be doing all four at the same time. My day job gives me a lot of downtime during the last 2-3 months; so I'm usually skimming around CR and Reddit unless I need to fix something. The other jobs, I'm physically commuting to their office and sitting there for several hours.

Dolby Cinema is kind of spiffy/interesting. They also have their "Atmos" technology for cinemas. Dolby knows what's up when it comes to sound and video nowadays.

As for cinemas that offer food/beer, I have a friend that I visit in Chandler every so often. We hit up the Alamo Drafthouse. We met in Kansas City, MO (where there's another Alamo cinema) so it always brings back fond memories. It doesn't have the "no kids after 6 PM" policy that I spoke about, but it's still a nice place to chill and get some food while watching a film.

I see. This is why the background investigator asked me "what do you do? at the beginning of the interview.

I guess now a day we have 3 formats to choose from when watching movie. They don't have Dolby Cinema with 3D ?

Chandler? Chandler Arizona ?

Dolby Cinema is a bit like HDR Cinema Technology with some crazy seats that will rumble or move based on what's happening on the screen (you can disable this through the LED panel on the arm).

Yep, Chandler, AZ. He works for a pharmaceutical company out there (along with another friend of mine). I visit about once or twice a year. I remembered you were in Phoenix, so figured suggesting Alamo might be an option.

I use it all the time, but then again I never do anything that requires sensitive information. Literally the only things that I use public wifi for is MTA website, articles from Bloomberg or the BBC, and, when I'm out of the country, google maps.

Arizona Ave and Chandler Heights.. Alamo Cinema. I know that area. I did my US census around that area. That's pretty far out of the Chandler Area.

Crazy seats? so it's like IMAX? without 3D ?

*update*

I see the LCD screen for controls for the seats you mentioned. It will cost around $18 a ticket for Dolby Cinema.. that's the price of a blu-ray movie. i think this is why these screen don't have as many people.

who would want to sit right up front next to the screen or way back in the corner?
