Episode 1 is now up on Anime Strike .

Episode 1

Pretty intriguing start to this show. Riko found a robot boy by chance, and unfortunately her orphanage won't allow her to keep this relic to herself, so she has to do what she can to hide him seeing that those higher-ups will do nothing but sell them. Riko causes a power outage, and that got her in trouble as she opts to run away and go exploring with Reg after all that. That was pretty interesting to see Riko's living situation and how her life is impacted by finding Reg.

Pure guess but this anime has the look and feel of Lost Exile creators? I like the kids and Orphanage theme with spelunking caves as a job sign me up. The robot boy has Astro- boy feel to him he has no memories yet but is trusting the kids so far curious what happens next.

Episode 1

Oooh, now this is how you do a first impression!

Concerning the background layouts, there are definitely interestingly whimsical merits going on and it fits with Made in Abyss' theme. The design for Reg, the robot, reminds me of the .Hack franchise where they would have markings on their cheeks.

I'm also getting a Kino's Journey or Lost Exile vibe from this show too. I have to wonder if any names from those series are involved with this show. Research will tell me for sure, but what is most appealing is the world. It is very ambiguous so far and the concept of Cave Raiders basically being explorers is fun!

Sort of reminds me of Megaman Legends' concept of diggers in a way. The OP sounds appealing too, so another pleasant entry into an episode. Yeah, I can't wait for more of this and I might even write about it if I am appealed enough!

Most I've been interested in a setting's adventure potential in a while. Hope it goes places.

Woah. That was amazing. This is officially my favorite first episode of the season. I haven't even seen them all yet, but I doubt anything will get better than this. The art was beautiful and the soundtrack was breathtaking. The setting is really interesting, and I can't wait to see how the story is going to go. Wow. I wasn't sure if this one was going to be good or not, but now I'm already hooked.

Best first episode of the season so far. If it stays in this direction it'll probably be my favorite of the summer.

Possibly my favourite first episode of the season, with the spirit of adventure potential, artwork, and setting.

Exploring big, mysterious holes is never going to go down well. The hole itself seems too neat and cylindrical, and along with relics makes me guess some kind of magical accident gone wrong from a hidden or ancient race.

Hopefully it keeps up.

I'm digging Made in Abyss. Very pretty show. Adorable characters. very cute, but adventurous show. But, I have a feeling it may turn into a feels train.

Good world-building too. Little snippets like carrots on sticks.

I hope the cute adventures keep up and mixes the comedy in with the drama.

On second thought... this show is fan-freaking-tastic and I believe even non-anime fans could get into it.

At a superficial level, this show brought to mind the Japanese stop motion short film Junk Head, whose main character is sent (dropped) into a very deep hole to the lower levels of a future earth, which are lawless and plagued by monsters. Definitely worth a watch if you like that concept.
