Been a while since I've seen a 'What the hell did I watch!?!!" show

I'll keep watching this one for all the surrealness.

Might be the sleeper show for this season.

So wait, they explain in the episode that dying in the dream means you die in real life, right? So when Prof. Cat gets eaten and MC gets his head chopped off, shouldn't they have like, I don't know, died?

The main character was eaten before he ever met the professor. I had my doubts about that particular tidbit of information from the moment he said it. For that matter, Lily told the main character to avoid the Witch of Thunder, played hard to get, then changed her mind for no apparent reason.

At this point, I think this could end up being a rather interesting show, or it could be that the writing is just plain sloppy. Unfortunately, there's currently a lot of evidence to support the notion that the writing is sloppy.

Seeing that this is Gonzo handling the show and they haven't done anything good lately that I have a hard time thinking that it's anything else other than sloppy writing. After all, things just happened without any real explanation. It's never a good idea to jump straight into a weird world without first explaining what the heck is going on.

I'm on the fence of this. For those that watched it, does it look like it will be a semi-action show? By semi-action, I talking about the amount of action that you might find in a show like "Clockwork Knight".

Main character with headphones and an abundance of gears in the early sequences. Felt a little chill since I momentarily thought this was Clockwork Planet 2.0.

Very strange first episode. Animation and editing were rather underwhelming, but the dream worlds could present some interesting scenarios. Not very enthused but will see what the next few episodes will bring.

Ever come across one of those pieces of media that just tries to be weird and faux-obtuse because the creators think that makes it cool and deep? Well, you have now.

Given that's all they were going for, they could have at least made it look better than it does.

Easy drop right here.

I'm all for odd and off-the-wall surrealism, but this isn't. If you want surrealism, Paprika is the mark to aim for.

well its certainly was a strange first episode, the game I play every now and then in the score rankings I'm in the top 10 for I don't want to say how many stages but I don't know if that's with just people that have used me as a partner or overall high score of everyone playing the English version.

This show might be alright. Still don't know what was going on the first 14 minutes or show, but once they went to see the witch I started to enjoy it more. The worst parts of the episode were when they kept using the split screen thing.

Episode One:

I went into this knowing nothing about the series and I came out of the first episode still not exactly knowing what it is about. While I can't say I am disappointed, as I hsd no real expectations, I can't say I was impressed either.

The style felt kind of strange to me, though I think, in the end, it will just take some getting used to. The actual feel of the show (camera angels and whatnot) reminded me a lot of the Satoshi Kon movie Paprika (though this show is not as good going by 1st episode only.) and to a smaller, near miniscule amount Flip Flappers. A lot of movement and what the fu** did I just see?' going on.

As for the actual story,

Anyway, all that is just pure speculation on my part. As far as my actual interest in this series. Well, I adore Paprika and, as I mentioned, this episode reminded me a little of that, so I am going to give it at least 3 episodes before deciding if I should drop it or not. The main reasons, at this point, are the art style and if it just remains simply whacky with little substance.

Episode 2

This time, it's a murder mystery as the culprit is the sister of someone who was murdered out to kill in retaliation. Kanzaki is out to make sure those guys being targeted do not fall asleep so that he wouldn't meet the witch. But Haruto is actually helping her get her vengeance seeing that she won't leave her dream unless she kills all the murderers. So she gets her revenge on all three of those guys with Haruto killing the last guy. That was pretty brutal there, and what Haruto did is pretty questionable, but between letting those thugs live and having that witch wake up, I think he made the right choice. Anyway, this show just continues to be a mess not really making an attempt to establish anything.
