Plot Summary

Mahmut is a young member of Türkiye Stratocracy's council who holds the political and military title of Pasha. The council's combination of warmongers and pacifists divide it. The threat of war and danger from the belligerent Empire put Türkiye's safety at risk. As the country's youngest military leader, Mahmut is determined to keep the peace. But with so much at stake, a long history of enemies and alliances draws the young man far into a political world he hopes to keep in check. The Pasha's journey is not easy, and war may prevail despite his efforts.

The first episode is now up on Anime Strike.

Episode 1

And so it begins with Mahmut doing his job in stopping a war from happening. The prime minister was shot with what appeared to be a Turkiyean arrow as it has their crest on it. But upon further examination, Mahmut realizes that it's an attempt to start a war from the Empire as an imperial feather was used, and Mahmut did a great job in getting those goons to out the truth that it was Louis who was responsible for the assassination. But in the end, the cover-up continues as while Turkiye is off the hook, the empire sees this as an accident. Pretty strong start to this show as the hype around the show is well-justified.

So Mappa has three shows this season, and all of them are good (at least based on first episodes for this and Kakegurui). Too bad Crunchyroll has none of them, all while Amazon's player just does a poor job with on-screen text. At least Sentai found a way to work around that problem with hard-subbing the on-screen text, but with Amazon, I couldn't get the characters' names straight.

Episode 1

Is anyone getting Arslan vibes from this? Definitely feels like it.

I'm interested in how Mahmut stops crimes and war from happening, but there is something missing. I think I just need more interaction between empires.

I do want to see how the war that involves all empires starts, though.

Yeah, more like a combination of Arslan and Magi. This show's setting is a reimagined version of Turkey (the region's name is how it is spelled in the Turkish language), while Arslan is set in what is known today as Iran, and Magi is based mostly on Arabia (though it goes to several different places, most of the show takes place in Arabia), which is not far from Turkey. And of course, there's also the falcon.

So, a lot of middle eastern influence going on here, eh? I can def see it on these shows.

Good start so far.

The OP song is fitting and they introduced the setting rather well. Plus, I like the animation style so far. It has the combination feel of historical military fiction with a bit of realism. MAPPA did good job there imo.

Tughril Mahmu is an interesting character imo, hopefully this show will focus on his development. (he reminds me slightly of Arslan) It's nice that they show some of his background story already. The most noticeable female character is Shara so far imo.

Otherwise, this was my most anticipated show of the season. There's good amount of military strategies, world building, etc. Can't wait to see more.

I also agree with what Bakaneer said. Amazon player is terrible and it's sad that they don't bother improving their service.

It was ok. Not a priority of the season. I am going to put this one on hold. Not that I dislike it, just that I am really trying to cut back on what I actively keep up with. This will go in the "binge later" pile of my backlog.

Arslan and Magi?! Where do I find this. Those shows are amazing and Magi is my favorite anime of all time. I have a bad feeling that I already know the answer though (Anime Strike).

Edit: Just did a quick check. Why Amazon?! Why?!

Meh, a more realistic Middle East themed show, after watching Magi this was kind of boring.

It's kinda slow pacing series.

Very heavy dialogue show though with politics, world building, warfare etc. Story should pick up more soon.

Beautiful artwork! Political intrigue as learned through the youngest pasha sets a serious tone for this anime. Quite interesting so far.

As a few others have said, this did feel very Arslan. Solid start though. My only real complaint is that it seemed to go too quickly. There was a lot of ground to cover here so I can understand why they wanted to get through it all and get to, presumably, the meat of the story but it still felt like everything came together way to quickly to really "work." The content of this first episode alone feels like it could have easily been spread over a 3 or 4 episode arc. We'll have to see if it slows down at all or if it remains feeling like an abridged version of something more complete and detailed.

Good start .
Nice to see that they avoided the usual shonen-tropes (I was a little bit worried about that) and the art-style looks good.
