Yeah... pretty much. I was thinking people with questionnaires and random other encounters more related to business... (I don't have business cards nor a business). Was a bit weirded out when EVERYONE else thinks it's some random possible encounter with a sexual partner...

Business reasons are far far far far far more likely.

This forum is full of high school and college students, whose lives primarily revolve around going steady and getting laid.

We're the weirdos here.

I think it's because the OP referred to gender several times, including, "whether you're a boy/girl," and, "would you rather take his/her number and think about it and decide afterwards to message him/her?"

Perhaps it was unintentional, but repeatedly mentioning gender like that implies that the question (or at least your response to it) is meant to be seen as a relationship or hookup opportunity, as gender would/should be irrelevant in other circumstances.

wow!
yet another question that indicates that "people" in general have become scared stupid little rabbits.

if your asking this kind of question, then you need some serious social re-training.

NOTHING gets done in this life without knowing and getting help from OTHER PEOPLE.
and how pray tell, would someone accomplish that without BASIC COMMUNICATION SKILLS?

there is far TOO much fear in the world these days..

these are the simple social things you should have worked out when you were in Middle/High school at the latest.

I swear kids today don't get the proper guidance they need so they can think about and work out these things that will be the most important during the rest of their life.

Ask why they want it...then probably just walk away. Rude, I know.

I normally never give my number out to many creeps out there in the world lol.

Numbers are hard, but there are a lot of free chat programs you can give out, or like the alternate e-mail.

I would give my number out to someone who asked really nicely who didn't act like they were going to stalk me forever. I mean if they stalk me for like a few months that's okay, right?

Why have a girlfriend when you can have a stalker girlfriend? (Joking of course, but it sounds funny.)

If hot, flattered. If ugly, creeped out.

I disagree. Plenty of people out there willing to talk of their unsuccess.

Lots more willing to speak much more loudly about their possibly-fictional success, though.

Also consider that any forum is generally dominated by the kind of person who either works from home, or doesn't work.

I asked a girl out for the first time few months ago, it being the first time I talked to her as well so I was a complete stranger to her. She gave me her number and texted me for a while. So I think people in general are not that concerned about giving out their number. Whether or not they will go out with you or whatever your intentions were for asking for their number that's another question to be answered.

But you can admit that you found the girls attractive. Otherwise you would not have rang them back? be honest.

Some of them, yeah. Some were just interesting (shared common interests) that ended up becoming friends.

As for business cards, I never have my own phone number on them. I have a business mobile phone with a unique number and an extension from our toll-free number. From the OP, I thought it was more focused around personal number - instead of business ones. Lol.

Depends case by case.

In a business setting/job application, you're kind of obligated to provide your contact info
Online (on a chat/forum website), not really
Those "chat with random people online" websites, if you value your safety/privacy, definitely no

I don't care. I will give it freely. And if you are annoying then I block you.
