So far, i see two that i can actually see myself watching.... everything else seems to be another slice of life smorgishborg... I know some of you like that but seeing the field dominated by it every season is starting to get more than a bit annoying. The slice of life mindset is getting so bad even my wife is complaining about the anime.

If you want action anime just watch some older shows then. There are plenty good ones out there.

Either watch older action anime OR read some manga. Pick a side.

I'd be banking on MHA Stain arc being extremely strong

Or... and just hear me out here a second... you could diversify your anime watching and try some of these SoL, comedy, or Romance shows.

There are plenty good offerings. "action" doesn't always have to mean fighting and baysplosions.

I recommend checking out Kakegurui

Spring 2017 was a great season for action anime, I watched more shows in one season than I can ever remember (Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, World End, King's Avatar, Sword Oratoria, Re:Creators, Grimoire of Zero were what I watched). Summer 2017 just seems lesser because it's following on a great season. I normally only watch about two shows a season, so this seems to be more of a normal season to me ...

I think this is the problem, more than 3 or 4 good action anime and we feel spoiled which is very sad. There is only so many times i can re watch an anime, and most of the older ones that i enjoy i have watched them a bit to much.
@Yamstarch.... every time i see people trying to tell me to diversify of change it up it honestly makes me disgusted and with a feeling that i need to slap the person. I am old enough to know what type of anime i like, what type i detest, and what type are just... meh ill watch it to kill time.
@alconnow yes i know it is not fully announced this is why i did specify in my first two words, so far. Asking for more action / adventure type anime is not really a big thing when for every one of them there are like 10 slice of life, school, talk about our feelings bs.

Funny how your version of feeling old is acting like a brat. But I guess we all know that feeling.

It does look like a light action season though, hopefully Fate/Apocrypha stays strong. With its staff it should.

But also given your sentiment I'd second giving Kakegurui a shot. For psycho--I mean for science.

Well first of all, this is a great season for new anime, at least one that's a hell of a lot better than last season's lineup. As for a lack of action shows, that's not really true but if there isnt enough for you I think you just need to broaden your scope. This season has Katsugeki Token Ranbu, which is another promising action title from ufotable and I hear Saiyuki Reload Blast! and Knight's and Magic are okay too. But you shouldn't just stick with one genre, especially this season when there are so many great shows outside of it. There's the intense and striking Kakegurui, the trippy 18if, the gorgeous Welcom to the Ballroom and the breathtaking Made in Abyss. I could keep going on like that, because there are plenty of shows that havent aired yet, but those have and they're pretty great.

I'm just curious as to what is "disgusting" about trying things outside your comfort zone.

I mean if I didn't, all I would be doing is twiddling my thumbs waiting for the next mecha or shounen series.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To each their own.

First I said disgusted not disgusting, big difference. Second I fail to see how my response was acting like a brat. I made the statement simply the only response people seem to have when someone says there are not many of the shows I happen to like is "well you need to watch more" in other words they have a superior and smug attitude because what someone might like differs from what they believe everyone should like.

Yamstarch, there is a huge difference in comfort zone and personal taste. I have seen many anime, i am willing to bet more than most. I have learned what I like. I even try out shows that I know I will not like just to see if they suprise me. I made the statement that the shows I prefer are few and far between so far this season

Fair enough. Nothing meant to be smug behind anything I said. Far from it.
