Life Below Zero has been airing for a few years now (look it up on Wikipedia). Those skills will come in handy if we (lower 48) ever endure an EMP attack on the grid. Also, Railroad Alaska has a series about some of their riders who have opted to wait it out 24/7/360 in hovels located several miles from their right-of-way. Railroad Alaska is not quite as rugged as Life Below Zero. Follow the 50-something independent named Susan. Living on her wits have aged her quite a bit but that gal is amazing compared to some of the rest of us who might stress far more over lesser fates outside their comfort zones.

Life w/o internet: I recall it. Wouldn't be hard to switch back to life w/o it but that would be too Life-transforming for my psyche atm. Meeting more than 4 real people at a time in 7 days or less once outside the web. Verbal conversations?? Manners?? Nooooooooooooooo.

My only concern is that the kid is so isolated. As long as he has other kids to socialize with I think it's pretty cool.
