I feel like this is half slice of life and half science lesson.

The mermaid school was interesting

The ending them is really growing on me.

I'm finding the show pretty enjoyable, also got me to start reading the manga too since its on comixology. I like how there are the nods at tthe political state of the world even if its kinda disturbing with like with an armed gaurd at the Merfolk School, not sure if you can read it in the anime but in the manga its basically a "No littering, violators will be shot" sign or the fact that they have strict equality laws. It breathes a bit of life into the world they're in while still keeping it a relatively harmless slice of life story so far.

That was really good and much better than Ep.1

Nozomi is adorable. I loved the dress-up scenes.

The social commentary is pretty darned good in this, but not overbearing. I like the informative and "scientific" aspects as well.

Just a good overall mix of overall world plot, comedy, and cute girls doing cute things.

Also I am REALLY liking the ED.

Who would have thought a Haoliners show could be good?

I love how they just casually drop that Manami is Inukai's girlfriend. "And nothing to see here, moving right along."

But anyway Manami, the angel class president, is best. I'm a man who loves justice.

This show is nice, but it feels like I am being lectured all the time about equality among the species.

I thought that that Crunchyroll publicity news item with 5 min film clip where the production team filmed one of their PR people in a centaur's costume was almost funnier than the anime. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2017/07/15/video-tv-anime-a-centaurs-life-pr-woman-in-centaur-form-tries-to-get-to-akihabara

This show has a strong emphasis on rules. No riding on centaurs (even if they offer it?), bans on students working, etc. There's alarming elements such as armed guards, or the government using most of its equal supplementary budget for merfolks. Slightly amusing that the company advertising the merfolk aid was called Cyber Troll. Curious to see if those elements get more coverage or if any societal dissent surfaces.

Nozomi's "friend" was rather detestable; for coercing Nozomi and threatening to expose Hime. Nozomi was visibly stressed about that. Furthermore, when that friend's secret maid cafe work was brought to light, she played the entire thing off as a joke. That left quite a bitter taste.

There are numerous winged folks in this show. Could they actually fly with those wings? I hope they're not just show. That, or there could be a regulation that bars them from flying; perhaps in the name of safety and equality.

They can't fly. The show even notes that there's a theory that they evolved for warmth (same is true in our world, at least for the feathers part.)

I find the angel's halos a bit more curious.

Isn't that a bit odd? Feathers on wings seem like a very inefficient temperature regulating method. It'd make more sense if their entire body was covered with feathers or fur, and not on an isolated portion of the body. I wonder if those wings originally could fly, but evolved and lost that function. Though, through the lens of natural selection, why would any species want to lose the advantage of flight? I'm probably just applying too much of our science into this.

The halos do make me curious. I wonder if they're attractive features (for courtship purposes) or some have other purposes.

Gave this another episode but it's just SO DAMN BORING, them being animal people isn't really adding enough to make it interesting for me, well if you enjoy it have fun, I'm out.

Well, the "Little Bit Beastly" character designs were obviously the starting point, and they worked backwards from there. The trap lies in putting as much thought into it as they have. That just invites us to overthink it even further

On that note, wings (likely) evolved in our world by first providing a slight advantage in jumping and falling further safely. That may be the case here.

This world is such a distopia. It wouldn't suprise me if in a few episodes we get to see who there are now fewer students around because many have bin shipped off to reindoctrination camps and one or two of them died in the bombings of government facilities, yet everyone is acting oblivious to it and keeps on smiling in the fear they could be next.

Also I'd totally run an underground magazine focused on devil girls in victorian and goth dresses, especially girls with shorter hair and smaller bust. Cus that's just cute as hell and I might as well die for it Like, all the others can pack it
