PhantomGundam wrote:Has it been confirmed how many episodes this will be? Episode 1 was Case 13 but there's no way that can be the conclusion. If this is only 1-cour, I don't think they'll show every case unless they already have a sequel or OVAs planned. If this is 2-cour, than that would mean we've gotten a glimpse up to the halfway-point of the series.

From the sites I looked at (Livechart, Anichart, MAL) it's slated for 12 episodes. Not sure if were getting OVAs tho.

This episode, while I enjoyed it, emphasized this shows one flaw IMO. It hadn't really bothered me until now but the moe character designs just don't work when they're interacting with other characters. If you think about it most moe shows only have the main characters in the cast (School Live) or everyone has a similar design(compare Madoka to her mom in Puella Magi Madoka Magica) , but this show having ONLY the main girls designed this way just makes them stick out too much. Since it's been all men so far I kind of was able to overlook it, but seeing an adult woman this episode ( the Queen who bore quite a resemblance to Queen Victoria) made the girls just look like little children or dolls. It was kind of jarring and really took me out of this episode.

Another entertaining episode. Lol we just got ninja added randomly (unless something happened that I forgot). That Beatrice gag was great.

There seems to be some jumping back and forth but you can look at the case # to help get a general idea where each episode is in the timeline (Episode order is Case 13, Case 1, Case 2, Case 9)

I'm guessing they'll show her joining later, or maybe they skip it entirely and show an episode later of her getting truly accepted by the group the way she seemed to be in case 13 (so it'd be between cases 10-12)

Yeah, this is yet another very interesting aspect to an already excellent show. Once it's all done, I know I'll definitely be watching it again in "proper" order to see how it all lines up.

catching up before I get left behind.

Episode 2

The second episode shows Ange transferring in to Queen's Mayfair school and there she meets Dorothy who they happen to know each other. The mission they are given is to replace the princess as Ange will take her place and to get it done they attend a ball that night. As they start the mission they are given new orders to take a key from someone in the ball. Dorothy tries to use her sex appeal to get close to him but it doesn't work as another girl is guarding him. Ange comes up with a plan where she stains princess dress and while she cleans it she uses it to pass off as her and talk to Morgan. She promises that she will guarantee that he and his wife will be safe in exchange for the key and it works out. As Morgan leaves the party the duke figures that he must've given the key to someone and has the people of the ball searched. In oder to get away with the key princess makes a deal with Ange as she knows that she's a spy. The deal is made and she keeps the key hidden and at the end it turns out that Ange and princess know each other.

Episode 3

Ange agrees to help princess become queen as that was the deal she made with her and she receives a new mission. This time they must steal printing plates and in order to get in princess decides to help out. We also find out about Beatrice past as her father replaced her vocal chords with machinery and how princess became her friend. With the help of princess and Dorothy, Ange manages to sneak in with Beatrice and manages to get the plates, but in the process is injured. With the guards trying to blow up the door to get the intruders Beatrice manages to trick them using her voice box. This gives them enough time to get away and seeing how Ange cares about princess decides to join the team.

Episode 4

For this episode Dorothy gets a mission where they have to steal a prototype and the research for it. At the same time she is given orders to keep watch of princess as she could be a double agent. Through out the episode we see the girls take part in the mission but most of all Dorothy uses the girls to distract a guard to get a key and let Ange and Beatrice get by. Once Ange gets to where the lab is supposed to be its empty as they moved it as a leak got out. They are able to catch up to the boat and retrieve the prototype and Dorothy is sure that the princess is not a double agent but her superiors still don't trust her.

Episode 5

So continuing to do things Haruhi-style, it's onto case 7 where Chise is formally introduced to what would become Team White Pigeon. Chise is here to take down Jubei, who is out to take Horikawa's life. They were on high alert on the train, but Jubei had everything all planned out bringing out a train where all the assassins are hiding. Things were headed for disaster with the tracks merging and the trains on a collision course, but thanks to Ange and Princess the trains stopped just before they do, while Chise surpasses her father. That was pretty thrilling how things went down, and Chise sure did make a nice impression, though this wasn't the first time seeing her with the episodes being aired achronologically.

That episode reminded me a little of the train mission in Final Fantasy 7, although they went about it differently of course.

As entertaining as the fight was, I do find it hard to believe a grown man would struggle against a petit girl, but perhaps he was subconsciously holding back given their relationship. It wasn't too much of a surprise, though it was a nice touch with the magic formula.

So for now, Chise is on Team Yuri Commonwealth, but as last episode indicated, she's evaluating them for her Lord - let's hope they win.

Well, if for some reason you didn't think this show was completely bad ass before, you have no excuses now. While the arc itself was a little predictable, and knowing the "future" means outcomes aren't really that up in the air, this episode was pretty much executed to perfection.

My favorite part this week was that swordfight scene on the train. Very well animated and showcased what Chise is capable of.

Having her on the team will be a big help too.

This is so Code Geass.

One thing that's interesting is that... and I guess it's probably an issue in Japan - how close they come to talking about Japan in these alternate history shows, but then they really don't.
Like, in the Code Geass universe, we don't know how far back Japan's history split from real life. At what point did the ascension of Henry IX in England affect Japan? Did this continued Tudor dynasty send ships there before or after the Americans did IRL? Or did Napoleon, after successfully taking over Europe? Where are the emperors now, and at what point did Japan become a "democracy" (read: hereditary republic)? What about the shoguns? It's implied that the Kururugi and Sumeragi families were descended from the emperors, but how, exactly? None of this is detailed - maybe it will be in Resurrection. There was that Renya manga, but that's... barely canon. I'm guessing it's very controversial in Japan, and I'm wondering how much more we'll see of PriPri's Japan.

PriPri is giving me the Geass fix I need while waiting for the movies/Resurrection. I wonder how much of it is a testing ground for what he wants to do in Resurrection...?

First Ange flips Beatrice's off switch. Now an assassin fails to decapitate Beatrice. I guess her father wasn't such a bad guy after all.

Jokes aside, we've got another great episode. Now that we've got Chise's introduction out of the way, I wonder where they'll go from here. Just small random missions that slowly move the plot forward until it's time for the princess to take over? Clashing with the Duke again? Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to it. (Just please don't bring in a Biba-type villain halfway through)

Chise at the end made me sad

You can incapacitate, but not decapitate, Beato, the six million pound girl

I got my steam train fix this week

proper maid Dorothy

This show is wicked cool. The OP alone gets me hyped.

Funny how the show's already conditioned me to know that when I see ruffles, shit is about to go down. From Ange's commando-tutu to Chise's bloomers, ruffles appear to be the fighting gear of choice for Team White Dove.

So weird hearing characters talk about Japanese people...in Japanese. While the action in this show is awesome the tininess of the girls (or maybe its the hugeness of the guys) just...irks me, Chise fighting Jubei looked like Yoda fighting Count Dooku in AOTC
