Episode 2

That was some pretty cringeworthy stuff there with the way those lolis were trying to advertise their show. And now, Kyo knows why those girls want to put on their concert in that the orphanage is on the verge of shutting down, and the director is willing to raise the last of the kids there, but is being asked to do it in a cozier setting. And Kyo is being asked to have the girls give it up. Yep, I figured as much that something like this was going on.

Well now that they've clarified the "misunderstanding" from last episode it really makes pretty much no sense at all given the translation they decided to use. They've removed pretty much all of the ambiguity so the only reason Kyo could have "misunderstood" is if he basically did so intentionally.

Anyway, not really much of a surprise on the story front and they're still pushing the little girls in uncomfortable ways, and fairly frequently at that. They seem to be pretty self aware about it but I'm not sure that's really helping in this case.

We'll see where they go next week but this one is on the verge of being dropped for me.

Yeah, gonna drop this one. Girl's are cute (in a hugable fluffy stuffed animal type of way) but the pedo vibe is strong in this one, feels slimey and dirty. Cant do it, makes my stomach turn. Doesn't make sense to me how people can be attracted to children that way.

Episode 2:

The only thing I thought while watching this episode (outside trying to ignore the uncomfortable misunderstandings) is if Kyo doesn't go to school because someone caught him cross-dressing or something. He would probably make a pretty girl. He's the first character to make me think, 'He would make a good trap.'

I could do without the bath scene and Sora's shenanigans and the set up has been rather predictable (not that I was expecting it not to be). The only thing is that I think the girls have more of a reason then just to grant the 'Master's' wish (why do they call him Master?) for putting on the concert. I don't know if I will make it to the end of this series or not, but I will give it up to episode 3 before deciding if I will drop it or not.

Nope didn't misinterpret last week it's definitely an ecchi loli show, well I guess the Eromanga Sensei fans needed something for this season, although I guess the girls on that show were too old to be lolis hmmm anyone of you perverts know the age cutoff or is all about looks? Anyway finally an adult shows up (at exactly the loliest moment) what was with him mentioning being drunk around the orphans and sitting around half dressed, creepy. Oh and just a clarification for those that don't know, him quitting being a priest because he needed a better paying job, in Japan being a priest (incl Shinto or whatever religion) is a job and doesn't pay well and is usually just a second job or they have a second job besides being a priest. Also this guy obviously isn't a Catholic (that is the one you type can't quit). Ah well I enjoy lolis as side characters but after barely making it through Eromanga Sensei I don't think I can do another show with them as the main focus and four of them (his imotou) to boot.

My interpretation is it's basically short form for Head Master, which is fairly common old term when referring to the head of a school or orphanage.. though I'm not sure if that's something that would be common in Japan or not.

I shouldn't necessarily call this show ecchi. At least not in the traditional standards of such. Definitely a loli show.

That said, overall I find the show very cute. I like the backstory of the girls wanting to form a band and play. There is enough humor and non-cringey parts to balance things out. And the music is really good too. I like the ED a lot.

The bath scene was a bit much and felt out of place. The little sister definitely has a bro-con thing going. She is cute though and I bet she will get more involved int he story somehow.

Who I want to know more about is Drills girl and how she fits into all of this and why he doesn't go to school.

Also Sora is just too damned adorable.

Welp the people from last week were on to something, but still.

At least one of my question were answered on where the adults are! Main male character dude seems to have a tragic backstory on why he won't attend school, heck he even met a old friend as he did attend school at least in the past.

I got to get this outta the way but I FEEL SOMETHING IS OFF. I just can't shake the feeling, maybe its just the bad vibes of the main male character, oh well.

Dropped. Basic story is okay, and having a male mc with a history I'm interested in knowing more about tempers a little the CGDCT thing that I'm generally not very fond of anyway. But for me it's not enough counterbalance for the very unappealing very young cute girls doing ecchi things which presumably is supposed to be extra cute, portion of the show. It's stupid, and is uncomfortable to watch..

Yeah, I'm in the same boat on that. Often with the shut in type characters it's either some weird trumped up reason or it's just left totally unexplained. Here the MC actually mentions being exhausted from having to deal with 4 people in a single day, which is a real thing that actual people deal with. It has me intrigued and, at the least, shows that the writers have some concept of what they are dealing with.

But then they go off the little girl deep end...

Agreed that the translation was unfortunate. With the way that Japanese syntax differs from English, Nozomi's line that "chotto dake nara...sawatte mo...ii wa yo" works perfectly fine in Japanese but is hard to translate without referring to something (i.e. what's being touched) in English. I think a better translation would have been "If it's only a little...touching [it]...is OK." I get it too though that these subbers are working under time pressure and trying to get the subbed videos out in time.

Definitely. A better translation would have been just leaving "touching" as a trail off like you say. Sure it's not a 1 to 1 translation but it would do a much better job of implying the intended ambiguity (plus her facial expression would have sold the rest).

I really, really want to like this show for its lighthearted fluffiness and for Sora being just too damn cute. (Hell, she's the only character who could actually pull off one of the ecchi jokes without it being total cringe.)

But the thing is...

This show's more than slightly toxic, and there's just no getting around that. The director, the animators, the writers, they really needed to keep the loli hard-on holstered and not spurt fetish juice all over a show that really didn't need it.

I...just don't think I can make it through 12 episodes of this much cringe. Once it got to the "naked apron" bit, that's where I decided enough was enough. DROPPED.

Yeah no.

They call him "Shishou" because they respect the music he's been posting online and want him to teach them/promote them. He's their "master" in terms of his musical knowledge versus theirs.
