Truth be told, we are at an age where immortality seems close to our grasp, but then not really. What if we don't make it? That my life is wasted away working? That immortality is never achieved? Are you optimistic about it? What do you think?

even if you were immortal your life would still probably be wasted away working. IT's all pointless anyway, why make it longer.

So you want to be immortal?
Nah me as long as the one I love is still breathing I wish to live more
And when he die. I wish to die with him

Staying alive is good, that I will get a chance to finally relax from work and date the girl I like

I want to explore the moon.

I want to go to Mars and colonize.

I want to have more freedom and my own group of friends.

There are so many things that I couldn't do at my current standing, but I am still enjoying it anyway.

That is dedication lol, I probably would not die along with someone. You've seen the UP animation right, kind of like that lol, I'd be a grumpy old man

The meaning and purpose of one's life lose substance if you were immortal. The struggle of life is what makes life a forever-interesting experience. One should never feel complacent in life - they should always strive for more. Be it a hobby, be it a better job, be it a better circumstance (location, environment, job... whatever). I feel that if you were immortal, these things would lose their meaning and you'd be more apathetic, less productive, and more uncaring about the things you'd think you'd care about.

Humans are stupid. We only entertain ourselves because we know we're going to die one day. Imagine if you knew that you would never die - how boring would that be.

Being immortal means you'd be able to work at your own pace lol, and when you finally accept death, you could pass away peacefully. The normal human's life expectancy is 100 years, then by the time you get out of work you're 60, and rush the remaining 40 years of retirement, full of regrets. Sort of like that movie selfless, but I really doubt I'll end myself in the end = =, if I transfer to a body unknowingly I would only do it if I am obligated to terminate myself.

Ah, but see - to be immortal means that there aren't any means of "accepting death". The common perception of immortality is that you simply cannot die. As for retirement, that's why I'm striving to retire by the time I'm 35 (40 at the absolute latest). Old enough to have experience/money, young enough to still enjoy life. I'd be happy with dying at 60. Twenty years of doing whatever seems like a good enough time for me (especially since I won't have any children).

I was expecting OP to be a younger person when i saw the thread title. I think most people would want to be immortal when young and free and life is so fun. But i guess time seems endless then.
Maybe if you had endless cash and didn't have to work a shit job. And other people you knew were immortal as well. But there's no way that you wouldn't have a falling out in all eterinity.
But i think when you get older you realise that living forever would not be good. I mean nobody wants to die but yeah.
But everyone is different as well.

Hmm, I'd probably carry on my gene and have a kid though. Knowing that he/she will eventually leave a mark for me in history , the great ancestry of Fred. Ya, I must have misused the term immortal for the second, it should be choosing the time of death, but immortal is more catchy . At the rate it is going I'd probably retire by year 60 and I still do not have a clue on what I am doing, good to have a goal in mind boss :D

Fred is in the 30s lol, staying young in the 18s is good if I can stay in that age lol. And along with others is definitely a plus. My current best progress in life is the Fanime , good old school buffet, it's cheap and good, too expensive buffet lowers my happy gauge. The on going seasons of anime, some horror FPS game. And the mystery surrounding Disneyland and Nintendo :O

I am living proof that I have live for 2,000 years! You have to keep up with the technology, clothes, food, languages as you go land to the next every century!

Of course Colin (Karkarov) been chasing me though out for 2,000 years and we duel each other every century or so and he never learn his lesson.. his swordsmanship are child play! You would think he'll pick up few sword trick after every few Centuries! :p

Yes, my name is Marcus Octavius, and yes I still think Ancient Roman Empire are Superior Civilization! Someday I will rebuild Rome!

Not if you made some amazing investments early on in your immortality. You could become the worlds richest person within a mortal lifetime or two. Then "retire" and travel the world.

But like it was once stated in another immortality thread. It would have to be immortality with invincibility/eternal youth. As well as with the ability to commit suicide as the only exit out of this madness.

Technically you could.

You just need all the money in the world, the best health and care, and perfect genetics.

At most you might make it to 130 with the best possible lifestyle.

The only real way of being immortal is to have your name in history.
