I just started a free trial to the Showtime channel on Amazon, to watch the new Twin Peaks. Assuming that I like it, I'll be keeping the subscription for the next couple of months.

Any suggestions as to what's especially good from Showtime?

(In a very quick glance through the channel I spotted Dexter -- which I've already seen and liked a lot -- and in movies The Hateful Eight, which I've also seen and like a lot. So there are two examples of things I like.)

I've watched some of Penn & Teller's BS. They make some good points sometimes, but only if you're already a cynic. Some poeople wouldn't take what they have to say very well.... I just couldn't binge-watch it; needs to be taken in small doses. Don't have to watch in order, you can skip around. S3 Ep 5 was especially "enlightening", showing that even the most revered icons have two sides to them.

I've occasionally listened to This American Life on public radio, and I personally would watch that to see if the series held up.

Things to skip: Dune

Thanks! I did watch the original Twin Peaks years ago. Am not sure whether I want to revisit it again--but I might.

Might try some Penn & Teller. It's been many years since I've really listened to or seen anything from them. Pretty sure I've already made the mistake of watching Dune, quite some time ago. I won't make the mistake again.

Will definitely give Shameless a go.

Homeland, although I've heard good things about it, has little appeal, but I might check out one or two episodes anyway,

I do have some interest in watching Tee Handmaid's Tale, but it isn't on the Showtime channel on Amazon--at least not in US. (Is it even on Showtime elsewhere? I didn't realize Hulu had shared it outside of Hulul.)

Apparently it isnt on Showtime but I have definitely seen it on other services.

I may have been thinking of shomi though.

Is shomi still a thing?

I'd never heard of Shomi (it was apparently just a Canada service, not US.)

Shomi is not still a thing (unless something changed between the time of this Septermber article announcing the upcoming end of Shomi to take place in November 2016.)

Really? I never heard about that, although I suppose its to be expected when you push manual curation.

Turns out I was actually thinking of another Canadian exclusive service, although it was a channel not a streaming service (although it does have its own service, its not the main focus)
