The first episode is now out: http://www.crunchyroll.com/in-another-world-with-my-smartphone/episode-1-awakening-and-another-world-742187

Episode 1

Touya is killed thanks to God shocking him with lightning by accident, and he gets to bring his smartphone with him to his new life by request. He can do everything except contact anybody in his old world with it. And then Touya meets his first members of his harem party in the twins Elze and Linze in the alley, and they teach him the basics of this new world. It turns out that Touya has a lot of abilities and can use all elements of magic. And it ends with him using his smartphone to teach the girls at a cafe how to make ice cream. I was looking forward to this show, and so far I'm really enjoying it. While the setup is much like Konosuba, it does a good job trying to differentiate from it, and while it is a harem, so far none of those pitfalls that they generally have are not present.

I somehow enjoyed this very much. The twins seems like good characters. As for him not able to read the words there my first thought was ask God for like an app that helps out. Wonder if he can get apps in this world and if they are apps for like info on monsters, places and culture and stuff like that.

And bit glad he's at a basic level of magic as I was surprised he could use all of it.

Ha this was like if all the characters on Konosuba we're useful or Re:Zero if everything was easy, but we also get twin Emilia's ( instead of maids) lol This looks like it will be very boring, ooh they made ice cream how exciting. Well I guess I'll watch to see how the harem fills out.

Episode 1

We get introduced Touya, who apparently just died not long ago at the age of 15. Kami-sama says that he can bring something in to the other world (where he is going to be reincarnated), so Touya decided to bring his smartphone (yeah I know, a classic) and he is still able to access the internet back in the normal world to so, even better! We get introduced Elze and Linze who are both twins and they become acquainted to Touya from him saving them in a alley way. It seems Touya is REALLY good with magic and sword play because he is able to use every type of magic (and its quite rare apparently) and seems pretty good with a sword as well. The inn where there staying, a girl from a restaurant comes asking about a new recipe idea, Touya gives the idea of ice cream and after using his phone for a recipe, she deciders to use that!

I thought this was a nice start for a Isekai show. The animations are nothing to get hyped about but are not bad to look at either. With the MC being pretty OP, it will be quite interesting to see how far they take it but I guess thats just to see in the upcoming episodes. Good start and waiting for more!

Episode One:

While I doubt this show will be breaking any new ground or winning any awards there is something about harem shows with their generic overpowered and somehow super irresistible main characters that I really love. They're like the power outlets needed to recharge me or the pickled ginger to cleanse my palate for generally heavier shows (though some harems can deal with rather heavy content themselves). I am being serious here, no jokes. I really do love or at least enjoy most harem shows and I don't foresee this one breaking that trend for me.

The animation and character design are okay, though the clothes store owner/tailor guy was a little creepy. I liked that while Touya (the main character) could use all magic, he wasn't exactly a professional here. (I also like his teleportation magic has a sort of weakness.) That and that he couldn't automatically read and write in this new world's language, though I am interested in the other part of this world they keep mentioning. The whole cellphone twist is kinda nice to and I look forward to seeing how this show utilizes that outside looking up recipes.

As for the characters, Touya reminds me a bit of Kirito from Sword Art Online and the Twins of Kyou and Ryou from Clannad to some extent. However, despite any likenesses to other characters or not, they have all been decently enjoyable in their own rights. Though I do wonder if any of them will get any solid background or character development.

Overall, I really enjoyed this first episode as it really scratches that harem itch. I will be continuing as it was a fun watch for me, but I wouldn't really be recommending it to any friends.

not bad for a first episode. though the main characters personality is kind of bland so far. the character designs look good though, from what can be seen in the OP.

Overall good intro into the series. It does just enough different to give it it's own charm. MC is quite likeable. Lucky bastard too other than having to die first.

Emilia 2.0 is really cute too. I'm interested to see what other girls have to bring to the table in this harem later on.

I just hope that this MC is more Kazuma and less Subaru.

This will probably make my keep list for the season.

It was enjoyable but it almost felt like, if you arranged the reincarnated genre into drinks, then

Konosuba would be like Apple Juice
Re:Zero would be Vodka
Tanya would be black coffee
Overlord might be green tea
...
This show would be a lukewarm glass of water.

It's refreshing if youre thirsty, but there is nothing really special about it. It's not especially bad, and it's not especially good, it's average. It's about as average as you can get. The jokes are average, the OP MC is average, the waifus are average... it's all average.

Yeah it's like, no no chances will be taken it will be straight up harem show and everyone will behave and be happy. The quests will have easily beaten monsters, and everyone will be polite and well behaved. This is plain white toast, no butter, no jelly.

...Which is exactly what I want. I avoided and never watched Re:Zero, except the season finale. Konosuba was funny, but the relationships were by design uncomfortable and unsatisfying. SAO was enjoyable simply for having a straightforward functional romance, and a pleasant harem. If we go back to my first ever anime, Tenchi Muyo (and pretend space is an isekai), that's just a long history of unsatisfying endings, not to mention annoying harem members.

I read that there's very little tension/drama/conflict at all in this story, it's a harem slice of life in another world. So if you're going to recommend something else instead, what are some other shows like that? I don't need it to be funny or unique. Being "plain white toast" makes it unique from most other comparable shows I've seen.

I'm not expecting much romance either, but one of the girls becomes the MC's fiancée; to find out which see this: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/anime-spotlight/2017/summer/in-another-world-with-my-smartphone/.118058
