He'll be running as a Republican in a state Donald Trump unexpectedly won in 2016.

I agree with him about abortion... it's laws that should tell people what they can and can't do. So once Kennedy and Ginsburg retire it will make way for change.

What's sad is that he seems pretty qualified depending on what other senators you compare him to.

This.

I don't know why people are surprised when someone runs for Senate and the person isn't "directly qualified" (based on their own perception). As long as you meet the basic requirements, you can run for a government position. You don't need a law degree in most government positions (other than those that directly impact the legal system, like District/State Attorney). You just have to have the financial capacity to get yourself out there and get the votes.

In the case of representatives live in your district, unless you are a democrat of course.

But yeah you just have to be the right age and have the money. Money isn't a guarantee you'll win but Kid Rock has star status and global babe recognition. Just waiting for Eminem to announce his bid and we'll have the battle of the genres.

Edit: Lol fucking auto-correct...

I think Tim meant less that any idiot was once legally barred from running and more so that people were once much less likely to get behind any old idiot who thought he could just pick up politics out of nowhere and be successful.

I wonder how long it'd take him to figure out that getting voted in would mean he was a corporate officer for a corporation based out of puerto rico, lol

If Kid Rock is as good at politics as he is at music, the entire state would probably just spontaneously combust the moment he was sworn in.

That's not how the Senate works. They go to Washington and legislate and have very little to do with the day to day affairs of their home states other than theoretically representing their interests
