I also really liked the little arrows that showed up and would give a hint of what was coming in the future. I found that to be a really nice touch.

I agree. Those little asides are what ultimately sold me on this show. I get the feeling it's going to get a little crazy, and in a good way.

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

filthy casual gamer !!!! THERE NO SUCH THING AS PLAYING FOR FUN !!!!!!

As long as you put some effort into it it's fine! No point in playing games if you don't enjoy it :)

Wow, it's been awhile since I've enjoyed hating a main character quite that much. And I even agree with the little prick about games, but his reasoning for declining and the way he handled it made him out as a complete dick in a situation that ticks fantasy-wish-fulfillment boxes left and right. I think I'm going to enjoy this series if my vocal cords can hold up to me yelling at the milquetoast douche.

Episode 2

Here comes Tasuku Uehara, and Aguri is madly in love with this casual gamer. Amano shows that he just isn't cut out to play competitively when even someone who admits he's just an alright gamer beats him easily in Persona 4. Amano sure lets Uehara know not to insult him for how he approaches games and Tendou's gaming club. Aguri sure is none too pleased about playing games with another guy, and as it turns out they know each other from middle school as she's the girl Uehara won a plushie for, and Aguri has since changed her appearance. That was a nice appearance by Uehara going to show he's a great guy who lives games.

Ha, it's funny when characters in this show are more conscious of their feelings for someone else.

Good to know more about Uehara this week. That outburst to Amano was gold. Also, we got some Persona gameplay in an anime!

Was interesting. Unsure you see many MCs get like that the way Amano gotten.

And Aguri and Tasuku seems to have few twists among them that it's funny and somehow are more interesting then the other characters to me.

And guessing we are meeting the other girl that's in the series as I'm guessing that was Tendou that possibly fell out if her chair making that noise since she overheard them.

Man, this show...I love it.

The one thing, and I get the purpose, and the purpose was to contrast Uehara and make him the most likable character in the episode? One thing that really irritates me is when you have a show in a setting like this, and you have a bunch of gosssipy trash high school kids talking shit about another kid in the class that they don't even really know and basically inventing all kinds of garbage about them based on nothing, just so they have mean things to say about somebody that never even did anything to them.

I hate that. I really really hate that.

Speaking of things I really hate, I really hate Uehara's shrill little gyaru girlfriend. She's severely annoying.

Poor Karen, though. She is just flat out LOSING IT.

I wonder what other games we'll see played without the serial numbers filed off. Was NOT expecting P4 Arena Ultimax. O_o;;

Wow, really enjoying this show even more now.

Maybe i am just easy to please, but i was happy to learn about Aguri's backstory. and Tasuku turned out to not be the type of character i assumed he was either. both were unexpected to me. i assumed he would eventually dump her at some point this season bc he was just uninterested, but by the end of the episode it was the complete opposite. totally rooting for them right now.

Tasuku's interactions with Amano were also good. It's like they are bringing out each others true selves. in their own way, both will help each other grow. looking forward to watching Tasuku soften his cool guy persona, and also how he tries to hook Amano up with Tendou.

Speaking of Tendou... it's nice to see the "idol" of their school not characterized as a stuck up queen. her comedic reactions to the situations she finds herself in are on point. she really be falling for Amano.. but it seems like that girl who appears after the credits might stand in her way. I think she is Amano's mobile gaming friend who always asks him for help.. this will get interesting.

school romantic comedy anime are my weakness, add the gamer element to this, and it's a wrap. guilty pleasure for sure.

yea she was annoying at first but after learning her backstory i felt like i should go easier on her and give her a second chance. she changed her appearance to impress Uehara, but Uehara apparently doesnt really care about that stuff. in fact, he likes her more after he learns why she liked him before he changed his appearance. there is something to be learned here, for both of them.

Yeah, she obviously has a character growth angle coming, but at the moment, her very existence just sets me on edge. Like, she "heard" he liked girls who looked like that. Where did she "hear" that? Didn't she ask him, or would that just have been too much trouble/not be Japanese enough? That's the kind of thing that bothers me, when characters act on third-party assumptions instead of being direct. And yes, I know I'm complaining about drops of water in the ocean here, but it really irks me to see characters act this way.

Plus, her whole "You were winning plushies for somebody else" thing is a big sore point for me. It's like she knows nothing about him except "He's good at winning plushies". Like that's his only character trait. I mean...what.

They shouldn't called this show GAMERS! it should be called relationships!

This has to be the most relasitic high school drama I've seen in years!

and I was amused by all the gaming references in the opening.

and some Persona Arean gameplay and i was amused about how true that was about the gaming playstyle stuff :

The only largely unrealistic thing in this anime was the Backstories of the Gaming Club members. But now that we've seen the OP it's clear that they are unimportant and just used to set up that this ISN'T one of the Cliche competitive club animes.

this show is very hard to pin down. On one hand, it was obvious that the relationship stuff would start to happen. On the other hand, the first episode had a brilliant bit of genera subversion.

At first I though this show was mostly about the difference between playing games as a competitive gamer as opposed to playing games for fun, but it seems as though its more about being true to one's self and not giving in to peer pressure. The perspective character from the 2nd episode seemed almost ashamed to like games (and that he used to be an otaku) as opposed to Tendou who really enjoys the competition of the game.

I guess Gamers is a really good title for this show, since its less about one particular type of gamer and more about a group of people who are passionate about games in general.

To me the show went to another level with gamers and how the awkward interaction to morph into playing games with other people and realizing how much fun it is with possibility of other relationships
