Plot Summary

A long time in the future from an already distant future, the United Planets has waned in significance, and the Empire has also collapsed due to internal strife. People all across the universe now lead idyllic, peaceful lives. Banjo is one of them, a boy collecting debris on the outskirts of the planetary walls, when he ends up salvaging a broken-down spaceship and finds a frozen girl inside. He soon finds the hands of evil targeting her, and the entire galaxy being whipped into a furore. And no wonder, because she is Goza the 168th, a girl who holds the key to the entire universe's fate. Overcoming many twists and turns, the two set out into space in a bid to resurrect the United Planets... but it doesn't go too well.

No need to worry, though. Let's take this nice and easy. The curtain rises on a highly irresponsible galactic comedy.

It was super underwhelming, but very short. Not sure about Tyler's voice.

Watching this makes me truly grateful for having watched 90's series first back then. Actually, i want to watch that again, so i can forget this one.

Why couldn't we just have a sequel series.

I had a feeling that this has something to do with The Irresponsible Captain Tyler and i was right. But to make an alternative adaption... And it's average score on MAL, 4.45? Whoa. I planned to watch this but since i haven't watch the original and seems like this one isn't going to be a hit, i'll pass.

Watch the original. Forget this exists.

I might do that someday. Supposedly it's (according to something i once read) one of the most funniest animes there is. But it's not just humor that makes the original so great, is it?

While it is humorous, I suppose, the real reason to watch is the interactions Tyler has with people. That he more or less ends a war by being inscrutable adds a little, I suppose.

Based on the universally negative reception the first episode has garnered I just can't bring myself to watch it.

For those who haven't seen the original, it's enjoyable but dated. (It's very much a '90s anime.) I recall there was a front page CR article a few weeks ago announcing a Bluray release for 2018.

Well, I wasn't initially planning to check this out having not seen the Tylor series, but I did since it's only loosely related, and pretty much everything is way too cringeworthy to continue. Even if I had, that was just way too appalling and tasteless.

I am going to give this is a go, since the original is one of my all-time favorites (#2 on that list, in fact), but ... this negative reception is ominous.

I once read the same thing way back when and then bought all the DVDs. Do not believe these lies. Its not funny and the characters, especially the MC are annoying and unlikable.

Crunchyroll, if you're reading this there's a typo in the subs of episode 1 at 00:17; "on" is repeated.
