Smart phones, internet, globalized economy... I'd say we have it easier.

It couldn't have been that easy to find a job or start a business. That's what I don't believe and think it's bs.

lmao @ this guy being in total disbelief that it was easy to find a job or start a business. Like, he thinks this entire thing is bullshit because things were easy.

That just speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Great idea. I'll have a nice little Sim family and a house.

I'll see if my girlfriend and our cat wanna play that in our apartment.

Well actually... there is...

You just need to be able to buy it outright or pay the mortgage. No one is gonna give you shit, wasn't true then, isn't true now.

Did your grandparents go to college?

If they did, do you think your grandparents took on 5 digits worth of student debt?

Did you know that if they wanted to buy a house they could go to a bank and get a loan with very little credit history?

Lotta motorcycle hate in this thread.

I used to have several friends with bikes and I contemplated getting a KLR650 when I was younger. I suppose age isn't stopping me from getting one now, but the couple a few houses down the road from me used to ride a Harley and got hit by some out-of-state lackwit in an SUV. Now one's dead and the other's paralyzed.

I'd probably be more inclined to commit to it if I didn't have to worry about other people's incompetence.

Probably because we want to live

Millennials are value driven(eheh) so safety, practicality and economy are more important than looking like a badass. But if you can do both?

Is there even any point to underlining the whole "Millennials need to stop spending money on things" and "Millenials need to start spending money on things and stop killing the ______ industry!" duality? Regardless, I'm glad if the motorcycle industry takes a big hit. Motorcycles have no point beyond looking sorta cool. They're loud, they're unsafe for the driver, they require a high amount of maintenance and a lot of them aren't even that much more fuel efficient than an actual car. Best thing I can say about motorcycles is that their size allows for more parking options and that's not so great when put next to all the other crap.
The title is more of joke about how clickbait-y the articles that pop up are. The motorcycle industry is still recovering post recession, H-D just isn't doing well eventhough it controls 50% of the US market (while Indian literally saw 100% growth in their sales although it has tapered of a bit lately). What newer riders are buying nowadays are cheap, small displacement motorcycles. The Honda Grom for example is extremely popular right now, a little over $3000 brand new and 134 claimed mpg (although realistically its closer to 100 mpg from what I've seen).
---edit: plus motorcycles are cheaper than cars, I can buy a top of the line superbike for the price of a 4 door family sedan (granted not as practical although you could modify a bike to be very practical)

@octorockandroll
loud pipes - aren't stock, someone modified it to be loud
safety - yea there isn't much protecting us from the 2 ton metal boxes or the ground
maintenance - depends on the engine/drive configuration plus maintenance itself is very easy
the bikes that do have poor mpg tend to be more performance based, thats like complaining that a Lambo gets bad mpg

What?! Those assholes! First I gave riders the benefit of the doubt, I thought H-D build them like that. But now that I know they modify them to be loud that's just annoying. Freaking assholes, waking me up at night, startling me while I'm calmly driving, leaving me half deaf.

Well a motorcycle isn't practical for me. I need room for groceries! But also you can't be picky with what you have when you have housing and student loans to pay haha. Also I don't take fault because I don't buy a certain brand.

My dad owns a Harley-Davidson (Road King) and I might buy one myself. They're fun for cruising on scenic roads.

Perhaps the new generations are smaller, have less money, and don't enjoy traveling as much. Who knows.
