John McCain diagnosed with brain cancer

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jul/19/john-mccain-diagnosed-brain-cancer/

Six-term Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the influential Republican who has clashed with presidents of both parties over national security and foreign policy, has been diagnosed with brain cancer, his office said in a statement Wednesday night.
The cancer was discovered after minor surgery last week to remove a blood clot above his left eye of the 80-year-old chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“Subsequent tissue pathology revealed that a primary brain tumor known as a glioblastoma was associated with the blood clot,” the Clinic said in a statement. “The senator and his family are reviewing further treatment options with the Mayo Clinic care team. Treatment options may include a combination of chemotherapy and radiation.”

Glioblastoma is an aggressive form of cancer, and Mr. McCain’s office said the question of his return to the Senate will be determined after further consultations with his medical team. CNN, citing medical sources involved with Mr. McCain’s treatment, reported that he showed no neurological problems before or after the more than three-hour surgery to remove the tumor.

I found this comment elsewhere and I think it suits my thoughts:

"When McCain was a POW in Vietnam, McCain's father (who was an admiral in the Navy at the time) was able to arrange for his son's release a year into his imprisonment; McCain refused to be given preferential treatment over fellow prisoners who had been there longer, and would not go unless they could get all the prisoners released. He was then subsequently tortured for refusing to sign forced confessions, and remained imprisoned for four more years. I don't agree with his politics, but he's a good man and I wish him the best."

Cancer sucks. I hope he recovers.

So, WHO's a "loser" and "not really a hero", Mr. President?...
Oh, wait, you already sent the @POTUS Tweet about what a "brave fighter" he is, that's okay.

He seemed to be one of the honest politicians quite honestly. He pushed for a bill called the McCain-Feingold with a democrat on finance laws and campaign contributions. This sucks.

That's horrible. Everything I've seen from this guy has suggested that he is an honest to god great politician, but even if he was as bad as many of his contemporaries I still wouldn't wish such a dreadful fate upon him. I know that chemo at his age is probably not going to help but I really hope he gets better.

Wasn't expecting him to jump from a blood clot to cancer. Just terrible.

I like Senator McCain. My family supported him in 2008 and will continue to support him through our prayers.
I hope he beats cancer and continues to represent the state of Arizona. He is one of the few good Republicans left and has proven himself to be a gentleman several times. I was very disappointed when trump mocked him last year.

A real American hero and patriot

Wow that sucks to hear, feel bad for the man. While I am definitely no fan of his politics, I've always respected the sacrifices he made for this country. Best of wishes to him and his family during this tough time

What's fucked up is the doctors spilled the beings to the press. Doctor patient confidentiality be damned.

This guy has his moments.

Apparently nobody knows much about "Wet Start" McCain's atrocities, or singing like a songbird to the north vietnamese, or being responsible for quite a few deaths of his fellow servicemen...

This guy is one of the biggest piece of sheeeeyot politicians out there and has never met a war he didnt like.

May he die a slow painful death and have buzzards peck at his soul for eternity.
