So I have been looking at this for a few weeks and finally picked it up. Couldn't put it down. It is just a single volume. I tend to lean toward rom-com and comedy. This is a real story told in manga where the author lets us into her inner most self and tells us her story while also working through a lot of questions she has about herself, life and all that wonderful jazz. I'll risk sounding like a real cheese ball in saying I was very deeply moved by this book so if anyone else wants to discuss it, please. Also, I just think this is a great creator and I want more people to read her work. Thanks. <3

It is on Amazon. All the people saying it is "powerful" and meaningful really puts me off on it, though.

Finished it today. It felt like an autobiography/diary of someone with mental problems struggling through life and inner struggles of being lonely.

There's other stuff too, like, dealing with sexuality and being accepted by society and family.

I read it a few weeks ago. With that title and cover art I wasn't sure I'd end up liking it, but I was totally surprised in a great way. Definitely one of my favorite reads this year. I can see some people being put off by the subject matter, but I think it was presented very well. Would recommend it.

Well maybe I'm lame, but it's a good manga. :P

So maybe myself and others have used cliched terms to praise the book. It doesn't really have anything to do with the book itself unless you think only shitty books get described that way.

It's a manga memoir that focuses on the author's view and experiences of family, sexuality, figuring out what makes her happy, and fitting into the world around her. A lot of the stories of actual events are things like job interviews. The author is still a virgin at the age of 27 and part of the story is her talking about her first sexual experience with an escort and her thoughts on it. the depictions are not graphic and it'd be hard to call any part of this book pornagraphic. I'm not sure what else to tell you without spoiling everything. The pay offs of reading this story, for me, came from the realizations she reaches and what helps her get to those realizations. For instance, the author talks about only really ever reading fiction about gay men even though she herself has a strong preference towards women, she also explains why she thinks that was the case for so long. Again, the pay off is in her realization and what she thinks is the reason behind her behaving that way so I think going in depth on that point would be a spoiler.

I liked reading something with cute anime art that wasn't just pure fantasy for fun and was actually a depiction of a real person's experiences.

I saw it on the shelf at Barnes & Nobles. The title made it sound like a preachy mess, so I passed on it.
