If someone doesn't want to live anymore, ok. I can't really tell them it is wrong, but it is shit that he killed himself when he has 6 kids looking up to him. Kind of how I always feel about suicide. What you do with your own life is ultimately your choice. Assuming mental illness and other such circumstances it is fair to say this choice is sometimes made in light of really unfair odds. When you feel you have no other choice but to escape it doesn't really seem like you are making a choice anymore, seems like you are dealing with what to you must seem like a cruel ultimatum dealt out by fate. But I always come back to the people suicide victims leave behind. Can't imagine what that'd be like.

This really sucks. I grew up listening to Linkin Park. I never would have guessed that Chester was feeling this depressed. R.I.P.

Wow.

I just remember that Hybrid Theory was the first album that I bought when I was a kid.

I remember growing up with LP, sad to hear the news.
I'm not surprised though.

First song I heard from them was one step closer on the radio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qlCC1GOwFw

Rest in peace Chester. The music of Linkin Park really helped me in my childhood and I'm so saddened by by this.

Yeah, I can't even listen to his music today. Way too sad.

Crawling was the first song I heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9OhYroLN0

And then I went and chased down his album. The entire album was full of nothing but hits.

I remember back in the 2000s every single anime music video was set to Linkin Park music.

Like a part of my childhood just died.

Linkin park sounds great live, and hey we're always amazing.
Death just often gets people together and sharing how they feel, including when people die like this.

Yes it's terrible to leave behind your family, but as someone who has suffered with severe depression and still battle it often I can only imagine a fraction of what he might've gone through.
Your mind is not your own anymore and his suicide is not done on a sane mind, he didn't think oh let me abandon my family because that is not how mental illness works.

Anyway: I've spend a good hour shedding some tears tbh as his music got me through so much, I then followed that by a glass of fine whiskey to cheers our planet losing a wonderful man who was too young to fall into darkness.

I don't know if he was involved in the writing for all his songs, but the meaning of some of my favorite songs all change now.

Edit - case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2H4l9RpkwM

It really feels like he's talking about himself over and over again - his inner demons.

But then again, I could identify with the lyrics as well when I was younger and more volatile. I guess I grew out of it.

I tried listening to the music today though and it hurt a lot.
