This is why I can't stand human stupidity. You can tell in their dialect that they're IQ barely scratches 50.

Um, you guys may not realize that this is Florida. That guy might've been suicidal, cause Florida is the land of crocs and alligators. I had so much fun watching that.
Who knows, since he was disabled, he might've gone into the pond thinking that it was a swimming pool.

DISCLAIMER (Not yelling): SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, FLORIDA HAS ALLIGATORS/CROCODILES, SO I CANNOT BLAME THOSE TEENS.
Think about that first.

Also there are cases of people saving other people and injuring them and then the person they ended up saving who lived sued them and the rescuer's lost and had to pay a large sum of money to the person they saved

Notice a theme? Or perhaps that there's a Neo-Nazi website in the first page of results? -.-

But yeah, that one was totally pulled out of the ether as non-racial social commentary.

So singing Happy Birthday is illegal but recording and mocking someone's death isn't.

American logic.

Huh? That was fun for you? I can't even think of something not blatantly insulting to you to say. So I'll just ask if you think they could have at least called authorities?

Really, would they get there in time? No. Would the teens risk their lives to go in there? God no.

Cocoa police is reportedly trying to charge the teens involved

The Cocoa Police Department's announcement Friday on Facebook that it wants to pursue charges comes after the State Attorney's Office initially said the teens were morally but not legally accountable.
...
Cocoa police said its detectives have contacted state prosecutors to attempt to charge the teens, who are reportedly 14 to 18, with a misdemeanor for not complying with Florida Statute 406. If successful, it would be the first time the law has been enforced in such a case, according to authorities.

Police in conjunction with the State Attorney's Office determined that charges of "failure to report a death under Florida Statute 406.12," a misdemeanor, will be pursued, the Cocoa police said in a statement today. Police said the charging document, case report and video evidence are being sent to the State Attorney's Office for review, and a decision about whether the charges will be prosecuted.

406.12 Duty to report; prohibited acts.—It is the duty of any person in the district where a death occurs, including all municipalities and unincorporated and federal areas, who becomes aware of the death of any person occurring under the circumstances described in s. 406.11 to report such death and circumstances forthwith to the district medical examiner. Any person who knowingly fails or refuses to report such death and circumstances, who refuses to make available prior medical or other information pertinent to the death investigation, or who, without an order from the office of the district medical examiner, willfully touches, removes, or disturbs the body, clothing, or any article upon or near the body, with the intent to alter the evidence or circumstances surrounding the death, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

406.12 technically is a law targeting the removal of human remains, but i won't complain if they try to strech it to punish the teens involved.

Actually you can tell nothing of the sort. A person's dialect is not indicative of their mental capacities. You may believe this but correlation does not equal causation and you have no solid proof to back you claims.

They (the kids in the video) may speak like brotardo wannabe gangstas from "duh hood" but that says nothing about their intelligence. Another thing to take into consideration is how people are more likely to act in a certain way around their peers/friends. Meaning one or a few of these individuals could be very well spoken intelligent human beings but around "their homies" they revert down to caveman speak and "fuck that nigga, cus he can't swim ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy".

Essentially they are shit garbage human beings that could possibly be low IQ individuals but nothing in the video makes the latter true.

That's the reason there are Good Samaritan laws in place.

The true law that would be applied to this case would be a Duty To Rescue law (also known as a Good Samaritan law)

In the United States, as of 2009 ten states had laws on the books requiring that people at least notify law enforcement of and/or seek aid for strangers in peril under certain conditions: California,[10][11] Florida,[10][12][13] Hawaii,[10][14] Massachusetts,[10][15] Minnesota,[10][16] Ohio,[10][17] Rhode Island,[10][18] Vermont,[10][19] Washington,[10][20][21] and Wisconsin.[10][22] These laws are also referred to as Good Samaritan laws, despite their difference from laws of the same name that protect individuals who try to help another person.[1] These laws are rarely applied, and are generally ignored by citizens and lawmakers.

In general, there is no legal requirement in the United States to help and rescue someone else who is in danger. This would typically apply even in extreme situations where a bystander sees a small child who has wandered into the street or a man who has fallen onto the train tracks. There are some exceptions to this rule. Ten states have limited rules that may require you to help a crime victim if you can do so without danger or peril to yourself or to others

In certain scenarios, the law may impose a duty upon you to help rescues someone else who is in danger. Those situations are generally as follows:

Special Relationships and Circumstances
You may have a duty to rescue someone as a result of a special relationship that exists between you and the person in danger, such as between a teacher and a student.

You Created the Danger
If your own negligence creates a danger to another person and causes that person to require rescuing, you will usually be found to have a legal duty to rescue the person in danger.

You Began to Rescue
If you begin to rescue a person in peril, you may have a legal duty to finish your attempt. The court usually applies a reasonableness standard. If you began a rescue and then stopped, the court may find that you may have a duty to continue if a reasonable person would have done so under the circumstances.

But as can be seen these kids had no legal requirement to intervene. They could have been in danger if they decided to act as others have stated (crocodiles, can't swim well, could be drowned by the suicidal guy). The truth is they did nothing wrong in the eyes of the law.

Morally they are complete shit human beings, but that isn't against the law and I'm sure mother nature will return the favor in kind. But you can't get mad at them for the choice the disabled "suicidal" man chose to do that day. If he (dead guy) actually jumped into the water with the intent to take his life than who are we to fucking judge him or the others for allowing that man to take that loooong dirt nap. Every human being has to make their own decisions and live with the consequences. The disabled "suicidal" guy made his decision and died with it.

Nobody's fault but his.

Happy Birthday is a copyrighted song that some person/corporation/group owns. You wouldn't say hey my favorite bands e.g. (Linkin Park) song "Breaking the Habit" is copyrighted but I fucking love that song so I will go and sing it at my parties/ social gatherings without paying my dues would you? By doing that you are taking money out of their pockets as they are the rightful owners. If you want to use it pay your dues, if not then piss off.

How does that even make any sense?

but recording and mocking someone's death isn't.

Are you kidding me!? You want to make freedom of speech illegal? Good luck with that...

And it has nothing to do with "American logic". You are making a problem out of something that doesn't even encompass the situation. Don't make a ghost out of a blanket.

Yes they are garbage humans.

None of their actions was legally an issue.

Should they see a spiritual leader for guidance/go to church? Maybe.

Should they ban all recording and joking about possibly lethal situations? FUCK NO
