I'm six foot three. I work out daily. I'm a professional pyrotechnician - I blow stuff up as part of my job. I'm old and male and macho.

But some nights I'll sneak to my office and watch romance animes until I cry.

I'm not sure which is the real me...

They're both the real you!!

My guilty pleasure is definitely watching anime I don't think is very good. I like to compare and contrast within genres. So i end up watching trash sometimes for comparison purposes. Makes me think I should write reviews or something, but I don't really know if they'd be worth anyone's time.

Old martial arts movies. Even the crappy ones. Ive got at least 100 dvds, everything from remastered Shaw Bros classics to bad transfers of almost unheard of films.

Oh man I envy you. If you don't mind me asking do you have links to legit older Jackie movies on DVD that aren't bootlegs? I've been watching a lot of what they have on Netflix recently like five venoms and such. Wish it was easier to find legit DVDs to buy Do you like stuff with over the top acrobatics like crouching tiger? I find myself staying away from movies where people fly or jump super far.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? And if so, what is it?

Mine is SAO.

Honestly I got lucky with a lot of them. For instance I have about half of the Wu Tang Clan/Ground Zero movie collection, which are very very hard to find these days. I happened to come across them at The Dollar Store (I kid you not) so I bought up every single one they had of course. I actually cruise pawn shops and second hand stores for them. And if you know what you are looking for, you can find some on Amazon. There are several companies that put out a lot of old martial arts movies on DVD for years that arent around anymore. Ground Zero, Rarescope (Rarescope was awesome, they got a hold of several "lost" classics and put them back out. The transfers are horrendous, but the films were lost before Rarescope found them, and some are classics, like Jackie Chan's first real movie 'Cub Tiger fo Kwang Tung', or the classic 'Showdown at the Cotton Mill), Tai Seng etc...and some that still put out movies. Dragon Dynasty, Celestial Pictures (they have a whole Shaw Brothers collection, it is massive).

As for your other question, I definitely prefer the more grounded martial arts movies to the Wuxia style of movies (the flying around stuff like Crouching Tiger), but I am not turned off by Wuxia films, there are a few that are absolute classics (for example Come Drink With Me, Master of the Flying Guillotine..and some new ones like Hero).
