Still waiting for the announcement of Venus Vs. Virus to show up, as it's one of my all time favorites, and Funimation still holds the liscence to it. Nice to see we got Aria and OniAi though. Might have to give OniAi a rewatch soon.

Man, you made me look again, but it was a different Aria than the one I was thinking of.

Venus vs Virus is a great one, but I have the series on disc back home in the States.

No, that is not how licenses work. Funimation has the rights to the territory that Funimation has licensed. Crunchyroll is perfectly free to make an offer for the rights in other territories.

The problem is that none of these are going to individually earn enough royalties to pay the company's costs for negotiating the new contract, and since these are commercial companies rather than charities, they are not going to enter into negotiations that are almost certain to be net money losers..

... which would mean Funimation would need to have the LATAM licenses in the first place, which they may not.

Which they certainly do not ... Crunchyroll is clearly getting all the streaming rights for subs that Funimation ended up with. If Funimation had Latin American rights, we'd see it showing up when the sub streaming for these old licenses moved over to Crunchyroll.

If the licenses were to be expanded, it would have to be done by Funimation.

No, licenses are not balloons. "Territory expansion" either means that the contract was still under negotiation and there was a successful effort to add countries before it was finalized ... or else that a new contract was signed that gave rights to the existing title in the new territory.

It is entirely possible that CR couldn't negotiate directly with the Japanese licensors to expand regions, because it could be breach of contract with Funimation.

It's remotely possible, but highly unlikely.

The best prospect for a "territory expansion" on any of these old Funimation licenses is if the same Japanese licensor holds still holds Latin American for a large enough block of them that a single contract for the whole block has the prospect of earning enough in royalties to justify the contracting costs.

Hopefully this won't change Funimation's partnership with CR:

I would expect so, since:

1. CR didn't already have in any territories. (In those cases, CR just added on territories, but kept their broadcast format video).

2. It had already been released (quite a while ago) on home video by Funimation.

Titles meeting both those criteria have thus far been like most catalog titles: The final uncensored home video version.

It won't

Does this change your Crunchyroll/VRV partnership?

There are no changes to our existing partnership or to the content available from Funimation on either service. Crunchyroll will continue to broadcast subtitled simulcasts, and FunimationNow will continue to stream SimulDubs for most titles within two weeks after the shows original Japanese broadcast.

They announced the Funimation catalogues for this week early again, that's kinda awesome. Never seen any of these - makes me wonder why I sub to Funimation given how much of their anime I've not seen lol. Will prob give blazeblue a go, the rest I shall see how I feel as my queue is already bloated enough as is.

hehe who knows, we got 9 last week, and half were second day :> though with how many we got today wouldn't be surpised if there was nothing tomorrow :>

But man a couple I'm excited about, had thought about watching the DR anime, but never got around to it, hope they add the two for DR3 some point.

How is blazblue? I played a couple of the games, but never played too much.

The only thing with these new shows on the Crunchyroll list of shows to watch is some of them I can watch fully and there is random episodes its like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. I was happy to see them especially Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko Janai to Omotta? but it starts on episode 2 and ends on 12 but there is only 7 episodes for me to watch. Its a bit disappointing.

I'm in England by the way, I don't know if the shows are viewing different episodes in America

What I see here in the US (as of about an hour after your post):

In the premium forum, someone from Denmark reported missing episodes, just as you did. Perhaps someone botched the region permissions for those episodes.

Thanks, but I believe they're giving premium versions to just those in America.

The same happened with Hellsing Ultimate.
It's a bit annoying but I'll get around it somehow unless they fix it or decide to give those outside america more choices

The point of my post is that crunchyroll is using two series that came out in 2016 when scrapped princess is produced by Bones, who has created many very popular anime such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Ouran High School Host Club, Wolf's Rain, and Eureka Seven. Sorry for the misunderstanding
