At present I am in the middle of building a $400 DIY 3D Printer. It's coming along slowly but it looks like a thing that should work (and hopefully not $400 paper weight)

Have a few files ready and waiting from Thingverse for when it's done.

Just kind of curious how many other folks around here are into building stuff like this and what sort of things you Print with your machines. Also thought it would be a nice thread for people thinking about it to ask questions (and get answers from people more knowledgable than me)

I've got one.. went with a Robo3D pre-assembled, though, after I had some issues with assembly instructions with a Kickstarter printer kit from years ago. It's still in a box in my closet. Thinking about picking up another new one though, since when I am printing, I usually have a lot of parts I want printed, so kicking them over to two printers would make life easier.

Also used to post things to Thingiverse, but they were supposed to be free/non-commercial, and I found someone selling prints of them on Etsy, so I stopped that, heh. Mostly I print anime and cartoon props, stuff from the new Voltron has been taking most of my filament lately.

Not sure if you're also interested in making your own models to print, and I know it's discontinued, but I really like working in 123D Design. If you've got Windows, you can still find installers for it out there, and it works great for doing quick items to print up with minimal effort.

Well.....3d Printed Milk is now a thing that exists

to be honest I find that mildly horrifying

Moving towards a world where real food is a thing enjoyed only by the rich. The rest of us get stuff that is grown in a vat

Well, after a while animal cruelty could become a thing. We got stem cell burgers and all the other replacements so that we could stop killing animals. It probably wouldn't taste as good though

I got an ultimaker+ original

took me a while to assemble it alone, but I've had it for 2 years or so and it works just fine.

Just have to remember to calibrate it, level the printer bed, make sure the belts are good, grease the rods,
and get good filament, shit filament has shit results. I get mine from printed solid, they have colorFABB and they're in the states so you don't need to import.

I usually design objects in autodesk inventor and then send them to print, I rarely get anything from thingiverse or youmagine.

My assembly has come to a halt. Going to need to spend a day going to part shops with a tiny bit of metal in my hand asking "do you have one of these?"

I really hope one of them answers "Yes"

What part are you missing?

Been 3d-printing for years now, did my internship at a 3d printer manifacturer, and I'm currently building a large delta printer for printing larger parts, and I'm looking at building a really small printer with really high accuracy for printing higher precision parts, maybe.
