What recent anime series would you say are particularly beautifully drawn and animated?

I'm interested in finding something new to watch that's a cut above the rest, production-wise.

Death Parade is pretty good, and has one of the few OPs that I never skip.

Well it's not here or anywhere *legally* at the moment, but Kakegurui. It's a favorite of mine after 5 eps, and what did it were the excellently drawn facial expressions. They're so sinister and incredibly detailed. Plus that opening is top 15 at least, too many Cowboy Bebop vibes from it.

Just watch anything by Ufotable or KyoAni. Also, Grimgar and No Game No Life look especially great.

Grimgar definitely on that list. But i would also say Girls und Panzer. The tanks are super detailed. The action fluid. lots of detail in the buildings and battlefields. Just so much to look at in almost every frame.

Was going to say Record of Lodoss War...but definitely not recent. XD

A second to Rage of Bahamut. I'll also throw Ushio and Tora and Garo the Animation in there. I'm sort of a fan of the old school, not super shiny art style, so keep that in mind.

As something more stylistic and unusual, Kagewani has an interesting artsyle that fits the show and genre. Put a lot of people off the show, but I found it interesting. Worth a look if you appreciate a range of artsyles and their application in animation. Probably not what you're looking for, but what I'd suggest for an art student.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi isn't as recent but it looks wonderful nonetheless and the bgm is breathtaking to boot

Well I originally wasn't planning on posting here but the lack of any mentions of Violet Evergarden is starting to concern me.
Seriously though it's already ranked #44 currently on mal and it isn't even out yet. Tokyosaur does a pretty good video explaining it:
