I'm an amateur artist considering of writing a comic in a manga style. I was hoping for any advice on comic writing and drawing, like what are people's process's they go through or should I just wing it and hope for the best?

I am in a pretty similar boat haha. After I finished my first chapter, this app came out, and it has everything I'll ever need to make exactly what I want. At least so far haha. I'd start here though. There are tutorials and stuff from One Piece, My Hero, Gintama, and more that can start you off. They actually start from rough drafts and go through all the way to finishing ink. I think the only thing they don't have a tutorial for yet is screen tones, but that's fairly easy.

Hope this helps!

Everyone goes through different processes. It depends on what they like to use. If you are a beginner, I would suggest the app for tablets or phone call IbisPaintX. It has limited tools for comic strips. But a great start plus you can post it where people can view it. You might like it. If your looking into laptop or computer programs, download Gimp it's very similar to photoshop and it's free. If you're willing to pay for a program that has all the tools I would suggest Manga Studio it will be your holy grail. It has the everything. Honestly, I would just wing it and hope for the best, because you'll grow as an artist and learn on what you need to improve. Only you can tell yourself how to improve. Plus, if you post your artwork on social media such as Facebook and instagram etc, you'll start a fan base. It's going to take time but eventually if you truely have the passion making a comic, go all out.

I could write the comic with you. I'm an editor and studied the psychology of literature (what makes characters appealing, profiling characters, creating realistic characters and such).

My advice in order to get better at comic writing is to consume the media. Read comics! but after you read it, analyze it. Did you like it? Did you hate it? Why? There are tons of free youtube videos and articles on writing fiction. Read them!
