Anime movies in blu-ray of course, I want to have a cultured collection some day But seriously, I still try to and hope when I make more money to continue to have a huge collection of dvds and manga, its just nicer and still convenient. I hate having to download apps for streaming sites that might not have what I want. I love crunchyroll, netflix, coughfakkucough, but they're not gonna have Space Dandy in it's dubbed form and I don't mind a sub but its hard enough getting friends into it as is in english. Newbies don't like subtitles you know?
I know it went off track but maybe you can find some sense in my gibberish?

Now, I still don't hear you mentioning what longterm anime is on your shelf? Or will Funimation.com still be there in 2025?

I don't see the point... you can stream more or less everything and if its having an offline copy you like about physical stuff you can just rip it from one of the streaming site (like crunchyroll) with an addon like DownThemAll!

Yes, the answers from those who Don't See the Point of physical tend to express the same respect for content:
When asked "What happens when the digital site goes down?", the discussion falls back into "No problem, there's probably bootleg files all over the Internet, or I can illegally rip them off of streaming!"

Oh, good. You're set, then.

I buy physical copies when they aren't $100+. I understand that is how the companies make their money via discs and mercy but $100+ for something I can get online seems nuts. However I have full monogatari set as well as just got kimi no na wa

I wish but they're so expensive. And I don't understand why Finnish conventions won't sell them just like other merchandise.
Always the same Naruto figures and Sailor Moon mangas.

I think reason is licensing and Finnish law.

Yes, though not nearly as much as I used to. I used to spend ALL my money on anime DVDs, and my collection was huge. Most of them are in storage now though and a lot of them were bootlegged, to be honest. Nowadays, I only buy anime (on Blu ray) every once in a while and only when I really enjoy a series. There are actually a few series I have both on DVD and Blu ray.

Certainly here in the US it is, but it isn't as there is no real chance of getting caught or prosecuted (unless you are posting the result online, or worse, selling copies).

Technically, even ripping discs that one owns (vs. streams one has only a temporary right to) is illegal in the US thanks to the DMCA, but you'll never see anyone prosecuted for it. The MPAA would never want to see such a case come to court.

I still buy anime blu rays, especially of series I really like since with streaming you never really know when a contract might not get renewed and cycled off the streaming services or they might stop printing the blurays. Also sometimes the picture quality is a little better than the streams and you can still watch them if the internet goes out for some reason.

Yes I still do for shows I really like, Code Geass, Spice and Wolf, Neon Genesis Evengelion. Also, ones I cant get anywhere without doing so. Pilot Candidate( That one was a thorn in my side for awhile because I couldn't remember what it was called for a time and when I found out it was out of print. (Splurged for it and unfortunately payed more than I ever have for a single season show) .
