So I've been getting back into the Open World and MMO genre recently.

I've gotten games like Fallout, Mad Max, Just Cause 3, The Witcher 3, Black Desert Online, etc. I've also noticed some other games like Guild Wars 2, Neverwinter, etc getting updates to their games. However, I'm not sure if I will be sticking to some of these games long enoug.

Basically, I'm looking for an open world game with a lot of content and updates that keeps the players coming back.

Ugh.... we need a new genre. A new dawn of gaming.

As for an alright MMO, play Aura Kingdom.

WoW is still king imo. They bring quality content and keep a 10 year old game fresh. I've played it since 2011 and still play every now and then. After 6 years though i don't have a constant sub

Is there any PVP content in this?

There's Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind

Warframe - Free to play. It's on steam. Always has updates. Third person,co-op focused action game. You are known as Tenno- Warriors of blade and gun and masters of Warframe armor. You're basically space ninjas. They just announced their big expansion "Plains of Eidolon" which will be an open world environment.

I'm still playing and really enjoying Black Desert Online. It's got a solid sense of progression through multiple pathways and the combat is just near perfect such that the grinding you may have to do is actually really fun.

I haven't dipped into Secret World since it's relaunch (mainly because my MMO attention is being devoured by BDO) but the original game was really good. It's far more story focused than many MMOs and I don't know exactly how good or bad the relaunch version is, but if you're looking for an MMO to try that might be worth a look.

FFXIV: Realm Reborn, it's top notch and the new Stormblood expansion is just phenomenal, I cannot recommend it enough, just play it and prepare to sink all your life into it

I thought Black Desert Online would be like Sword Art Online

Hmm, I had interest in this before but it requires a monthly subcription fee.

Do you happen to know Final Fantasy online games without it?

I don't think there are any without the monthly sub, it's a sacrifice we have to make

Not trying to necro or anything... having a hard time finding active discussions on the forum lol. Just going to put my opinion in.

I used to play MMOs all the time, they were sort of the main genre I played. FFXIV: Realm Reborn or World of Warcraft would be my recommendation. I don't really enjoy WoW, but I don't hate it. Just kinda meh. FFXIV has its faults, my personal gripe being the fact it has a few invisible walls, but overall I like it. Elder Scrolls Online isn't too bad either, but it doesn't feel like it has a lot of players until you go into a town. By the time you get in your FPS just drops. SWTOR is okay if you're willing to put the money in. Not the best MMO, and I probably wouldn't touch it if you didn't like Star Wars, but I definitely would at least try it if you like questing. Everything is voice acted, you can make decisions that change the outcome of the story, and so on. BDO is great if you like PvP and you really want to dedicate your time to it, however you do need a monster PC for it to actually run decently.

Breath of the Wild if you don't need the MMO part.
