Yes even birds do crash, but can we flap our wings and fly with air bags to reduce our weight? With an automatic guiding system, that would take us anywhere

No. We can only fly once we release our fear of missing the ground.

I knew someone that thought he could fly, as you can imagine, it didn't go to well for him.

That's why need a guiding system that would fly the wing for us

We'll need to reduce the weight first, like with air bags or some sort, that should be doable in the 20th century , ya I've seen those videos

Oh, tangentially. Mythbusters did a bit where they lifted a small woman with a crapton of balloons.

Right, but balloon isn't fast enough, you still need a set of wings to fly forward and lift off. By the time the hot air balloon gets to my work place I'd probably be late for work

It's either that or a helicopter, it just seems costly for a personal flying device

I think that the only arrangement for man powered flight that has proved successful is to use what is essentially a REALLY LIGHT airplane powered by bicycle.

There is only one account of angels having wings (like a stork) in the Bible, but then I am not aware that any of us here are angels. Seraphim are supposed to have six wings.

Everything else usually falls into the category of some type of glider/parachute.

No. Jump out of a plane and flap your arms frantically and you'll find out.

Of course we can fly, just take a few hits and smoke that joint if you know what I mean... I heard it's very effective

Any form of external aid makes it Assisted Flight. If you're going to make wings, add gas bags, put guidance and stabilising thrusters on, you might as well just use a plane. The result is the same.

You'd need a metric fuckton of bioengineering to make a human capable of unassisted flight, unless you're looking at superpowers or psionics

^ this guy used gas turbine engines, six of them each outputting 22kg of thrust.

and then you got Yves Rossy, jetpack with wings and 4 turbines.
